It may be legal, and I may be biased, but as a tax payer it's pretty frustrating that outfits like XJT and RPA are furloughing pilots while still accepting money.
I understand that we were "pilot trainees," hence the loophole, but it still seems like a betrayal of the intent and spirit of the legislation.

United and UAX have planes and crews sitting around doing nothing. They can do an equipment swap for a bigger plane in the short term. If 2 daily flights on a 145 are filling up, put a 175 or 737 on one of the segments. There are plenty of 777’s and 787’s collecting dust to use if the higher density routes start to fill. Seating capacity isn’t exactly a problem right now. I wish that it was.

Airplane MX, sim techs and MX, rent on the buildings in Houston as well as Atlanta. I’m sure there are other “overhead” costs that don’t seem obvious to us pilot guys.
