It's a pretty good view, too. You're allowed to go closer to the Capital Mall than you think you should be.

If you have the single engine performance data, you can make the right turn. Did that a couple times on the CRJ, until we were told not to because of that reason.
Departing off of 4 is also cool if you're light enough. Cuts a lot of time if you're headed to the NE.

I'll never forget her catching up to me mid stride in the airport to grab me off a deadhead home and roll my day off to send me to an overnight. My wife had called earlier in the day and was really sick and needed me home. I had seen the reroute on ACARS and already knew how I was gonna play it when I saw her. I was ready for a fight when I told her as we walked what the deal was and that I was not accepting the assignment and was gonna get on my flight home. She just winks and says "I understand. I never saw you" I asked "Are you sure? I'll talk to whoever I need to talk to. I don't want you getting in trouble." And she just as sweet as could be says "Go home. I'll tell them you got away. We got a guy sitting ARC anyway. I don't know why they wanted you." Last conversation I ever had with her.

I thought I remember they couldn't reassign you past the end of your trip without your permission. One time they called me after the last leg as asked me if I was willing to cover an additional turn for 150%. Every time I had a day off rolled it was due to factors beyond the company's control; typically a cancellation at an outstation.
I have been asked if I was willing to cover a trip exactly like you mentioned ... but in those situations, it wasn’t because the contract says you have an option; it was because the reassignment wasn’t legal and they are basically asking if you are willing to waive your contractual rights. For example, they can’t reassign you after 1:00am. Maybe you had a late night reassignment attempt?

Does anyone have insight into the guaranteed interview opportunity with United? The email says all ExpressJet pilots are eligible, but what about the guys who hadn't yet hit 1000 turbine (which I think was United's hiring minimum)? I'm sure no one here knows for sure, but is the intent that this guaranteed interview can be saved for later, so to speak?
Obviously United won't be hiring for some time, but haven't seen anyone mention it here yet. I'm just wondering if there's precedent for offering a guaranteed interview that won't be redeemable for at least a couple of years, or if it's little more than a consolation prize that will ultimately be forgotten.
