At XJT, just put in the base that you want as your 5th or 6th choice....then you will most likely get it.....A lot of people who wanted the west coast because they live there received their 6th choice....which was newark....it was my fifth. Not complaining, just saying.

If you try to beat the system, it's going to beat you. Bid what you want.

I know of two classes that bid what they wanted and they got their 1st or 2nd choices, with the exception of SAT. It seems SAT is the senior base with LAX 2nd, although the remaining new-hires are still bidding and getting LAX.

Like I said, I think it blows but its an airline, you knew it coming into it that you may not get your base of choice.........
I had made that post originally because I couldn't imagine XJet's contract would be lacking in respect to domicile awarding...apparently it is? I'm sorry - and I mean no disrespect here, but having to place a PermBid and having the responsiblity on me to find a replacement for my position doesn't sound appealing. I'm sure the system works slightly better than what ya'll are seeing at the moment given quicker movement through the domiciles, but I still wouldn't want to be limited like that. I very much enjoy the freedom of moving from base-to-base from month-to-month. My .02...

It sounds like the original post that talked about being stuck in EWR slightly exaggerated it. If that poster was stuck there for an entire year I would be surprised.

Again, I am curious to know what system is better.
ANY system that allows senior Pilots to bid into a Domicile before those spots are awarded to new-hires is better. It's really very simple: Senior Pilot submits bid for new domicile. Senior Pilot gets awarded domicile. New-hire fills his spot in less-desirable domicile.

I agree, it was amazing to me how I wanted EWR, but got awarded CLE, and the class right behind me, literally got out one week after us, most all got EWR. I just couldn't understand it, but I was lucky to only have to do 3 weeks in CLE, made me appreciate driving 15 minutes to work even more. Also when I commuted to CLE there was usually 60 or 70 seats open, and it was a super quick flight, I can't imagine doing some of the commutes of some of you guys especially x-country

I dont know if this was your case, but the vacancies are looked at on a month by month basis...... Classes that started or popped out of training toward the end of a month got leftovers...... Classes that started or popped out of training toward the beginning of the month got first dibs on new vacancies...... Therefore, my guess is that you were a late part of the month and next week was the new month...... Hope that explains it.....

PS tries to give everyone first choice but it is impossible to predict the movement of 3,000 pilot bids...... Bids change all the time..... You'd have to be able to predict the bid of everyone above you...... When you can do that, they will tell you with 100% certainty where you will go.

I just left Express Jet. Once I finished building my time I went back and the recruiter told me its' gonna be a while before they start any new hire classes,I was told to look elsewhere.
I did, and was picked up by Eagle. All of you that are in the pool, have a plan "B" just in case.
I really enjoyed Express as a ramper, they gave me every oppurtunity for success and helped me along the way. I ope it works out for all of you in the pool, but if it doesn't come on up to DFW.

Over on expressjetpilots.com, someone claims there is going to be a major annoucement soon, hope its' good news for you all.
