Unless you see that XJT gets new aircraft, I'd stay away. The ERJ 145/crj 200 is definitely on the way out. I was told the ERJ was built to be a disposable aircraft with a 10 yr lifespan. All of them are past that now. With that said, if you live in one of the bases, and QOL is most important, it may be a good choice for you as XJT (ERJ) reserve rules are not the worst.
Cal (now UAL) leases all the ERJs for 15.5 years. The first ones delivered are the ones reaching that lease term and being removed from the xjt CPA. All of them will eventually come off the CPA.

Tough question to answer. If everything stays the exact same for the next few years as it is right this second... you might well be better off going for the fastest upgrade you can get. The problem is the industry is horribly dynamic. Today's quick upgrade may be tomorrows chapter 11. XJT has significantly improved their product of late with some major management changes. It looks like they (SKWY Inc) are committed to having a quality product for a long time. Inc owns most of the ERJ deliveries for the next several years, but all that does is guarantee INC's position as a leasing company... no guarantee who will fly them.
Read as much as you can on all of these forums until your brain melts out your ears .... then go to an airport and talk to some regional pilots.. realize that some will hate their job no matter what.. some will love it no matter what... and somewhere in the middle is some good information that may not apply tomorrow..

Well said. XJT is positioning itself to either A: Have a great 2015 that will include new replacement aircraft and/or perhaps growth or B: Will continue to shrink and get worse. While nobody can say for sure, I have a feeling that we're in a great position for the future and that the shedding of the 36 ERJs, closing of the CRJ IAD base and other steps backwards are necessary for us to take steps forward in a positive way. 2015 will determine the future of this airline.

Seriously, they are gearing up for interviews and hiring?
I actually still like working here a lot as far as regionals go it has been livable compared to all I hear about other places, but I'm 20% seniority and most guys like me are trying to move up and out. Why would a new hire choose this place? What level of new hire is that? I don't get it. Laterals? Military currency builders? After that who is left?
The "big announcement" better be something other than just a few airplanes if they think we're going to get decent new hires. Rude awakening coming their way, I think.

A friend was told two years ago not to leave by an ASA chief because of a big announcement.
Last year another was told "I think you'll be sorry in a few months if you leave"
In February of this year.....I was asked by a CP "are you sure you wanna leave?........big announcement in a couple of months........ I think you'll be glad if you stick around"
I left
Nothing has happened.

What are the odds of new hires into the CRJ side getting ATL-FO immediately out of training. What is the seniority date of the most junior ATL-FO? If hired, how long will it take to get ATL, if not awarded in training?
