BS is a very nice guy, he was/is the best person for the job, that is without question. The point of my post was that for the last several updates that he has put out, the overwhelming majority of them are filled with quotes from philosophers and brilliant minds of the past that are in my opinion overused and very unnecessary, it has gotten to the point where it is almost laughable. 80% of the Jet Stream now is fluff and lecture while 10% of it is news we already know and the other 10% is a desperate attempt to keep pilots at this carrier.

I absolutely criticize him for quoting Yoda, a fictional character. This is the largest regional airline in the US who's parent is a publicly traded company, not a Star Wars convention in Des Moines.

Want something different. Read BB's stuff. Ask any republic person...

Yoda has some good insight.

It's all written literature.

You left out the 5% that he uses to indirectly chastise anonymous Internet forums.

Relax on the yoda thing. He always introduces funny anecdotes into his updates. It's meant to be funny not to make you think he studied Jedi philosophy in college. Relax.

The one thing he fails at is relaying why we don't get new CPA's. He talks every month about how we are the best and how we are bidding on RFP's but never discusses *** they will do if they keep getting outbid. The talk is getting cheap.

The reason we are not getting new flying is because we are too expensive and can't compete with airlines like Mesa, GoJet, etc. Our guys can talk about our awesome performance and safety systems all day long, the majors don't give a crap about any of that stuff, its all about cost. They say our good performance has been recognized by our major partners. Great, thanks. If that would be the case, we would have gotten those new CRJ900s from DL, not GoJet. All these updates are a waste of time reading. Their only moral booster right now is EFBs, pretty sad.

It's the same crap they feed over at SkyWest. "Keep our performance up, our major partners will recognize us." "Our performance is what sets us apart." Problem is, as you alluded to, they don't care. It's all about cost. There's no way Inc is going to be able to drive down costs enough at SkyWest or ExpressJet to be able to meaningfully bid on new flying against the likes of Mesa, TSA, Compass, etc.. As long as those places can keep hiring, then that's where the flying will go. Sure, you may get little bits and pieces like 7 175 for AS or 15 145 for AA, but nothing substantial that's going to outweigh the downsizing that's set to take place on both sides.

That's part of the reason we aren't getting awarded RFPs, but let's be realistic. Skywest controls what we get. We may bid on flying, and we may lose it legitimately to GoJet, etc.... But make no mistake that with all of those planes SKYW is continually awarded, some could have come our way. SKYW knows how much we bid and will always "undercut" us as part of this continual pawn game until they feel it benefits them to give us some scraps.

I personal don't care about the Yoda quote, however the MBA school quotes are getting old. I don't care what book, author, philosopher, etc said what.

And I don't care how good of a place this could be if we all stayed. The line "our mainline partners are noticing our performance" is also getting on my last nerve. I do like Brad, I think he is the right person for the job, but I don't want to hear that again from him, Alex, or other management crony. If they "notice" than where is the flying? "Mainline partners" don't care about performance. They care about dollars and cents...

They continue to paint this company as roses and sunshine to keep attrition to a manageable level. That ship has sailed. No company memo will change how we feel about the future of this company. The only want to slow attrition....maybe....is to award us some flying, upgrade some people and give us tangible positive news. Otherwise, this is the Titanic and we are looking for space on a lifeboat.
