Guys, it’s business. Not personal. You like it here or you don’t, the company may care but I sure don’t, do what’s best for you...

Exactly what I was thinking! It seems that pilots here get personally insulted if FedEx doesn’t suit other pilots. I also don’t care if you come here because you need a job. And if it FedEx isn’t for you when the time comes to make a decision, then at least you had a way to support yourself and your family in the mean time.

I have no idea what that first sentence says. But like you said, what do you have to lose if someone leaves for any reason?

There is definitely some of that. But I also have to say, the first year or so here can kind of suck. I turned down a big 3 legacy pax airline to come here, and there were a few times I wondered about that decision my first year.

After I had some seniority though, it all clicked and I knew what people were talking about when they say this place is awesome. Even before COVID, I was extremely happy that I decided to come here. Now I can't ever imagine going to the pax airlines. I never, ever want to do that BS again, although if someone feels that's a better fit, I agree that they should definitely go for it.

OMG! That one vote will ruin it here forever! Get a grip dude.

Also, I’m not that worried that they have nothing “to loose”. Do they not care about their license? Are they going to get us violated constantly because they don’t care? Crash airplanes on purpose?

Surely, you can’t be this obtuse...

You aren’t the only one. The first year can be rough and I felt the same as you.

THIS mindset is the reason Fedex plots will never have an industry leading contract. Every time the pax industry finds itself in a bind, many here fall back on this mentality. This a good flying job, could be better, but we can expect many to undermine the collective will of the majority by making a personal deal with the company.

Yes. The rest is what you will get when you ask questions like this on the internet. There are better venues for that. As you watch this and similar threads in the future drone on and on well past the OP’s question, remember the good news is that the overwhelming majority of those talking have zip to do with the hiring process.

Many American guys did that to us in the 1990's. Finally, the Chief Pilot got fed up and refused to interview any American guys for about 10 years.

We want guys and gals that want to be here. If you think this is the "B" team, go someplace else.
your attitude is exactly why people don't ask questions. First off I had waited years for a fedex call and went to someone who paid the bills and out food on my families plate. Second im trying to build a list of resources on companies and their nuances for fellow furloughees to make educated decisions. Next I could give a flying Flip what you want and don't want. I've been doing this way to long to care what a pretentious clown wants. I have a family to feed as much as the next person. And what I choose is best for them not your ego

that being done and over with. Thank you to thw rest who not only understand when FELLOW pilots have to make a decision during times they didnt plan to dela with for a long time. And answering the original question. I have no ill will to any pilot who has to find a different ride to pay their bills.

I stand by my statement.

If you are willing to stay, why does it matter if you have to resign your seniority?

I see both sides and personally want guys and gals who what to be here and be fun to fly with and happy to be at FedEx. It would be simply to search the data base and see if truly anyone had a application in and never got called.
