Nope, but how bout landing an MD11 in Kabul on a gusty day with a 3.5 degree glide slope and about 185 Kts TAS? That count?

Is that because you, Busboy, are an air-BUS DRIVER?

I agree with your statement, but Kazakhstan is Meters and QNH. Unless you were landing there back when it was still part of Russia. Pre 1991

Maybe this will help in studying for the written test??? I believe you can add to it and make changes too.

Nope. Not at FDX. QNH approaches are available into Almaty, but we are required to use QFE and a conversion chart.

Do you request QFE from the controller or do you convert from ATIS QNH to QFE and then convert that from feet to meters? Are you CATIII capable into Almaty?

Seems a bit hokie. The locals and Air Astana use QNH.

Cat III to 23R.

Our clearances have to be in QFE meters. Then we go to a conversion chart. I cannot remember why we do this. Especially when the only plane that lands there (MD11) has a meters switch on the altitude select.

But back to the point, this is a highly technical business with a lot of head work involved. No idea what the guy with the bus driver tourettes does for a living. But I bet he's the ace of the base.

So, did you land or observe the landing?
