Along the same lines, back in the very early '90's, UPS flew a DC-8 into Denver. The two pilots got off the jet, but the F/E stayed behind in the cockpit for a while. When she finally came out, she had changed from her uniform into her civilian clothes and walked up to the Captain and said: "Thanks for the ride. I start class at United tomorrow", and walked off into the sunset. I assume she mailed back her ID badge along with her uniforms and those brown suitcases that UPS issued. I'm assuming she didn't much care for UPS.

I can't see giving retirement notice in the middle of a sim, or a trip. That seems vindictive, and might just screw your crew. Gotta come back and repeat that sim, because we don't have a captain anymore. That's just cruel.
If one hates the company that much, they should retire the minute they can. Don't wait to be looking at age 65 around the corner.

Are you sure? I thought it was way more than that. Though I have not received my 2016 ALPA calendar yet.

Not to derail the thread, but it would be nice to negotiate for our retirees to have access to the jumpseat on personal status. I know we don't have 'cabin' seats for guys not holding a current medical, but we used to carry non-pilots in all our jumpseats before. Has that ever been brought up in negotiations?

True, under 121 rules. Supplemental rules allow a lot more leeway. I'd love to see retiree jumpseats on cargo airlines though, one would think that there could be a way to vet retirees and to have them put into the Cass system, "should" just require a regulatory change... O well.

I had heard about that story. Pretty brave. I wonder if he showed up in jeans that day.
Could you still jumpseat home?

Careful Cloud, some union members will be upset you mentioned something like that!

Two questions about current hiring details:
1. How do they offer the CJO, day of interview? Week after via phone?
2. What is the metric to sort senority? Last four social? Age?
Thanks in advance...I have one coming up and the wife was asking me these questions...trying to manage future expectations.
