It may seem like a little thing, but crew happiness and goodwill goes a long way towards making the freight move on time. This poor layout will be with us for decades. Also, by changing the layout, they will be able to get more Jumpseats on the plane. This will pay dividends for the corporation over the long run (and probably even pay for the lav move) by having less people call in sick! I already know of a few instances where crewmembers who couldn't get a Jumpseat developed a cold.

Rumor I heard was the USAF wasn't going to accept the current cockpit layout in the KC-46 and Boeing told FedEx that they aren't going to build two different cockpits, so the lav should move.

Count me as one of them. I'm a pretty senior 757 F/O that would likely bid the 767, but the layout in the cockpit is unacceptable to me. Just my opinion. That's my work environment, and I'd rather not spend the next 20+ years with jumpers staring at me and using the lav in my cubicle.

I'm with you on the lav issue. Jumpers in the cockpit is a problem now?

I think he means JS that have to get up and Poop 3 feet from him! :D

And once the 767 starts doing Europe trips...won't it be fun to have 3-4 JS's in the cockpit for a 10 hour flt????

For those who have interviewed, or those with an interview date (or those who have sponsored interviewees)- how long was the wait from the time your sponsor sent their recommendation to the pilot credential site until the time you were called for an interview?

Do sponsors find out when their applicant's information is sent through the matrix to see if they will be interviewed?

Thanks for any information and good luck to all.

1. My primary sponsoree was just hired. I think I sponsored him in 2008.

2. I found out when contacted me to say he had been called.

Thanks Albie. Do you think it took so long due to the lull in hiring the past several years? I'm hoping so, for all of us wannabes sake. :)

So is there a difference between a sponsor and the recommendation on pilot credentials? Thanks!

From Post #686. The recommendation seems to be just that. A sponsorship is a guy throwing his pills on the chopping block for you and vouching for you, saying you'll be a solid hire and won't screw up.

Recommendations
Recommendations must be made via the online application site and include the exact e-mail address the candidate has used to submit a profile in the system. This allows Flight Recruitment to connect the recommendation with the candidate’s profile. Any person, including retired FedEx Express pilots, can use the online referral form. This online form is the only process by which we accept feedback regarding any potential candidate.
Sponsors
Current FedEx Express pilots can also sponsor an applicant. When a current FedEx Express pilot “sponsors” an applicant, that pilot is making a strong statement about the applicant’s flying skills, people skills, and desire to fulfill the Purple Promise for our customers. A sponsor not only recommends an applicant, but also serves as a mentor during the probationary period if the candidate is hired by FedEx Express. A pilot may sponsor only one candidate at a time and should declare his/her Primary Endorsement (sponsorship) by indicating yes or no on the second page of the recommendation form.
