Yep, Dadof6, I'm happy my buddy got hired at Delta. For him it will be an easier commute, and he will see lots of movement quickly. Great guy, pleasure to fly with, but our geniuses decided that he was not the right "fit" for FedEx.

I hope they have their genius matrix properly tweaked, because we are canceling flights every night due to a lack of FOs. What is that saying..."The perfect is the enemy of the good" or something?

Management needs to figure out that good enough really IS good enough, and to hire a bunch of guys!

does anyone know if the knowledge test you take on pilot credentials is offered to everyone once you fill out the profile?

Is there an actual test or just the gouge for it? I thought the actual testing took place in MEM.

I tried to drop a trip the other day on the 757 and for the first time in the 8 years I've been here it was DECLINED~

Fedex is short of pilots. Me? I'm enjoying my summer with my KIDS!!!!

You know, I really need to spend more time with them....:)

I did a retirement comparison between FDX and the other airlines. My math could definitely be wrong however at no year did the percentage of retirements at DAL exceed those at FDX. Interestingly, only United beat our percentage of retirement and that was in the last five years or so of my career.

Delta, United, and American have roughly three times the number of pilots as FDX.

I will say that your friend will enjoy much quicker "local" seniority or base/aircraft seniority.

The plot thickens.

For our sanity, FedEx should make that order contingent on moving the lav. I know plenty of people who don't want to fly the 767 because of the poor layout.

It may seem like a little thing, but crew happiness and goodwill goes a long way towards making the freight move on time. This poor layout will be with us for decades. Also, by changing the layout, they will be able to get more Jumpseats on the plane. This will pay dividends for the corporation over the long run (and probably even pay for the lav move) by having less people call in sick! I already know of a few instances where crewmembers who couldn't get a Jumpseat developed a cold.

So is this the first time in eight years that you've tried to drop a trip? Everyone who periodically tries to drop trips gets their request denied at some point or another, no matter what airplane they are on, especially around the holidays or in the summer. To go eight years without getting turned down would be pretty odd, unless you rarely drop.

However, it does seem like there are quite a few trips in open time on certain aircraft.
