So the vacation window was in July with the vacation awards being announced in August. The company is implementing a new PBS-almost the same as the old PBS
but now we need to rebid our vacations AFTER they have been awarded? I smell a skunk in the woodpile. The Union called them on it , but the company is claiming there is no negative impact.

Interesting......they told me to expect a start of $63000 (about $309/day) PLUS per diem. BUT that certainly isnt worth it is you are working 30 days a month..lol...
I have been questioning from the beginning about the bid system. It completely defeats the purpose of going 135. If I wanted to bid on schedule and worry every month about what lines I get, I would just go 121. ugh

To put it in perspective, I have been with my airline for 11 years and can only hold a reserve schedule commuting to LGA with 11 days off. That's usually only 9 days home due to some commuting on days off. Also I do not get much of a say in when my days off are. The QOL at some of the regionals is pretty weak to say the least.

Commuting on company time is a big plus. If you are actually working, they will cater your meals but you also get to expense one meal (dinner) on the company credit card per day. International Red Label requires at least 2 STBY days when you are "off" so be forewarned about that voluntary program.

however with 600 pilots and a long upgrade (which i assume equates to slow movement on seniority), i was just wondering if the bidding system could really bog down.

If you live in one of the 6 primary bases, the most common schedule is 6 on 4 off. If you live in any of the other bases, you may be forced into an 8 on 4 off schedule. It doesn’t matter what f you bid it or not. One of my friends changed his domicile from OKC to DFW and does the 4 hour drive because he keeps being forced on 8/4s out of OKC. So don’t tell me it can’t happen! It happens on a regular basis to people in the satellite bases! Schedules are going to get worse here. The MCBA is kind of vague. Watch for management to do away with 4 day rotations and only have 5 and 6 day rotations working the weekends. You’ll be forced to bid yellow lines of 7 and 8 day rotations to get any days off you want.
