you guys will probably find more info on Singapore at www.pprune.org. There are quite a few Singapore guys on that website.
Start looking at the Far East section. There is some info on the bond and bank guarantee you have to provide if you are not current and qualified on the the 744 around $35000 US or S$56000. Phil Squares is an excellent resource.
Cheers

This info from the ad in Flight International should make it clear as mud:
Captain: S$10,000 when fully operational.
First Officer: S$5600
Service Benefits and Allowances:
Monthy Variable Component: Up to 10% of monthly basic salary.
Annual Wage Supplement: Maximum of one month's basic salary.
Profit Sharing Bonus: Payable depending on company's and or SIA Group's perfromance.
Flying and out of base allowance: Approximately S$7000 for Captain and S$5700 for F.O.
Annual Leave: Up to 32 Calendar days ( Captain ) and 28 ( First Officer ).
Housing Allowance: S$3000 if married and S$2750 if single.
Child Education assistance: Up to S$1400 per month for each child for a maximum of 2 children studying in a recognized school in Singapore.
Don't forget taxes, which work out in the neighborhood of 15%.
To me it seems like about a USD 10,000 per month job as Captain. What I really don't like about Singapore is their lengthy bond and bank guarantee clauses. I'm still a little fuzzy on what the bank guarantee involves, but it seems quite ominous to me and I avoid jobs that require any kind of financial commitment up front. Bonds I'm okay with as long as they are reasonable. I'm just ending a three year $36,000 Bond arrangement at my present employer. That was fair and I had no inclination to leave before it's term so it was easy to sign. Three years is an easy commitment, 5 years and 8 months, as SIA requires, is a little bit long. A lot can happen in 5 years and one really doesn't want to be tied down like that if they can help it.
The other thing to watch out for with SIA is that your monthly basic of S$10,000 is all you get for the 32 days of annual leave or if you are sick long term. Sure you still get the housing, schooling, etc. Your leave month is a big pay cut month, which doesn't really engender a relaxing vacation.
If you want to make the 5 year 8 month commitment and think living in Singapore would be fun then it isn't a bad job, but there are better ones out there.

Just be aware that there IS an age limit. It is not mentioned in any literature, posting or ad, so be careful if you are an older pilot. You will need to physically ask them, like I did.
Otherwise, you will be wasting your precious time filling out all those forms and background checks etc etc - all for nothing!!!
