Default MIA feed back

I went to the one in MIA today, few facts:

NO more DEC Direct Entry Capt for now.
Want to hire 270 F/O for 2009-2010, and 475 for 2011.
Interview pass rate is 42%. Full medical and BMI below 30 is a requirement.
Mins: the 2000H multi -engine, multi-crew jet that does not appear to have a min weight as it is not detailed on the web site is in fact 2000H of jet more than 30T! This was confirmed today during the presentation.
The question was asked: if you have 2000 hours but on jet below 30T could you be invited at the interview? No, not at this time.
That pretty much take most of the US regional jets pilots out, except if you fly the bigger ones... Not a good news, nevertheless they said that they understand the dilemma for the US regional pilots, that in Europe and the rest of the world commercial pilots progress to bigger jets faster and that is putting us at a disadvantage, so it might change in the future.
I wish the weight class would have been specified on the web site.
Big expansion plans, no more housing problems.
The people doing the presentation were fantastic.
The room was relatively small with all seats occupied and people standing.

An interesting choice of words given all that has supposedly transpired at EK over the past couple of years...

In case you aren't aware of the actual implications of the word:
Fantastic - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary

Hello, Dr. Freud...

Hi!

What if you are over 4000 TT AND over 2000 jet...do you still need over 2000 jet 30 tonnes?

AND, they DID hire US RJ guys before, and I'm sure they will again, sooner rather than later!

Good luck!

they are trying to see whats out there ( above 30 tons) , the same thing happened when they had the 55 tons, ( Bae 146/RJ ) was just under 55 tons.

keep trying and updating is all you can do

They said the 30 tons is hard for now but realize that it hamstrings most of the North American pilots in this economy so they say it may change in the near future. They also said absolutely no hiring of furloughs with out proof of resigning their number at current airline.

Yes thats my case and you still need the 2000H jet above 30T, thats the disapointment!
As far as the choice of world, it was not wanted, they actually tried to paint a realistic picture of the proposition, saying that it was not for everybody and that their pilots were not happy at the moment because the OT pay time that used to start at 80H (not sure about the exact No) is now raised to 89H to 92H depending if the month has 30 or 31 cal days.
It basically kils the OT pay, and you have to work more than B4 to get the same $.
On the other end, all your earnings are taxe free, 78.800 USD per year BASE salary, they give you a house to leave in if you are married with kids, apt if single, don't have to pay for medical for your family, up to 2 childrens education is taking care of, and you can have a maid that does everything for 300-400$ a month.

Are there any currency requirements? I meet all their requirements but haven't flown in awhile.

Yes, You must be current. And by the way all the DVD's they brought to the US for the roadshow do not work on US DVD players.
