Min years to be be eligible for upgrade is 3 years , at the moment pushing 4.5/5 and as someone said 2400 pilots now and about 4-500 / year for the next while means 4-6 years but the target is 4000 by 2016 and then it flattens out, dont know beyond that

So it looks like I missed all of the U.S. road shows. I'm guessing there aren't any more on the books? Anyone know if they will be doing any more road shows in the U.S. in the near future?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I would like some info if possible. I know they ask some questions about egpws during the interview so I was wandering about night conditions and receiving a warning msg. The study books say a go around must be done but my company manuals and the egpws manual of my plane just say VFR conditions in order to continue(without stating night or day). Any help would be appreciated. Got shortlisted and getting ready for it

This is what Airbus says:
EGPWS
Caution: During night or IMC conditions, apply the procedure immediately. Do not delay reaction for diagnosis.
During daylight VMC conditions, with terrain and obstacles clearly in sight, the alert may be considered cautionary. Take positive corrective action until the alert stops or a safe trajectory is ensured.
I guess the thinking is that at night, even in VMC conditions, you may not see an unlit mountain. There was a particular route into Mexico from Houston that was caught by FOQA before someone dented an airplane. Don't remember the specifics, but the min alt. on the airway was lower than the nearby Grid MORA. ATC would often give directs over the high terrain and some crews would take the direct, disregard the GPWS and narrowly clear the terrain.

You cannot, for essentially those reasons. You're living in an Islamic country, and that's the law of the land.
I suggest you do your research very carefully before jumping into something. There are a lot of things you should consider before accepting an expat job, and a LOT of the things you take for granted in the states DO NOT apply overseas. There are a lot of people doing it very successfully, but you need to know what you're getting into before you excitedly sign up for a job as a widebody pilot. Use the search function on this sight, there's a ton of info on here about Emirates and many other companies. If you really want to scare yourself, go to PPRUNE and do the same thing. Take it all with some salt, and make an informed decision.

Hello everyone,
Please could someone tell me if I would be able to live in the same company apartment as my girlfriend? I heard a rumor that you can't because it's "immoral"?
Thanks

She would have to find her own job to allow her to stay in the country on her own residency visa (each expat needs a "sponsor" to live in the UAE; this is your employer unless you are married, then you are the "sponsor" of your spouse).
