They will sometimes stretch the 100 miles by a few miles just as long as you get to the base in 2 hours. That’s because if they don’t have flying for you then they put you on Home Standby which requires you to get to your base within 2 hours. So commuting in on a work day isn’t feasible.

Having airline travel benefits doesn’t mean a thing when it comes to this. Besides the fact that it’s against airline policy to use your leisure travel benefits for work, how do you think PlaneSense would react when you have to call out of a trip last minute because you couldn’t get on a flight to base because it was full?

What is the hiring process like? Once you send in your application do they send you information that you'll need to study for the various interviews? Or do I need to be ready for the interview within a short amount of time after the app is sent?

Just got the call for the in person interview. It has been several months since the skype interview, but that was to be expected given Covid and the industry at the moment. Does anyone know what to expect during the in person interview? Technical, HR, Sim eval? All help appreciated.

You will get all 3. In the HR portion they will ask about your background and experience as well as talk about the company. In the technical portion they will go over sectional charts and JEPP chart. The sim eval is in the Mission Fit (the PC-12 FTD) where you will do some flying to include an approach, most of the time it will be a non-precision but occasionally it will be an ILS.

When I interviewed back in 2018 we all did the sim evaluation in the Mission Fit and I haven’t heard of them doing evaluations since then in the If they are doing the Frasca sim that would be news or me. Also I’m not sure where the Frasca sim is since I’ve never seen one in the training center. In any case the sim eval will be the same in the Frasca sim or Mission Fit.
