Quote: Why is this an inappropriate question? If you don't ask them what the day is like, they will most certainly make sure you're well aware of what a typical day is like to make sure you're up for it. You're interviewing them just as much as they are interviewing you. You need to know the good and the bad before you make your decision. BTW, sounds like you're working harder now than you would at XO...
You make a good point, Smooth. Guess I'm still not used to the pilot-friendly hiring situation. What I'm hoping for is a work situation where flying can still be enjoyed, where 3-6 quick turns a day are not the norm and where there's sufficient support for the pilots to launch without handling every detail.

If that sounds like XO, then I'll start crossing my fingers for that phone call. Thanks.

In an 8 day rotation you will see a mix of all kinds of flying, average is 1 to 4 legs a day with a few possible down days in between. I have worked at a few 135 companies prior to XoJet and by far this is the best company I have worked for. I happen to enjoy charter flying and plan on staying long term. Goodluck, we need good experienced charter pilots here and are always welcome.

Hey it's a pretty good gig. You will be busy the 8 days you are on though. 6 legs? No. But expect to see regular 2-4. It varies a lot. Last rotation I averaged 8 hrs flight per day and 12 hours duty per day. One before that was only 5-6 flight hrs and 10 hours duty. Like Smooth said. Ask questions, know what you are getting into. Not many days "sitting" unless you break. Good luck!

How do you get 150 hrs PIC in type if you're an FO?!

I know most people at XO are looking to move to the airlines, but I know several airline pilots looking to go to XO.

I know the earning potential is hire at 121 majors, but many (including myself) are definitely interested in XO.

They swap seats and fly. Regs are not the same for 135 as in 121.

Most Part 135 companies consider pilot flying time as PIC for the sake of meeting insurance minimums. Right seat or left seat doesn't matter.
