Closest for what? MCI is the closest with airline service if your going to KC.
Otherwise, MKC, OJC would be closer to the corporate office.

Don't worry about the written it's really a way to kill time while they interview others. Its just basic pilot stuff.

It will be basic private pilot level knowledge questions peppered with obscure hair-splitting questions Chuck Yeager himself wouldn't know the answer to. Don't sweat it. It's not really looked at. They're more interested to see how you interact with others while taking it (don't cheat but don't be a DB either). Also makes good conversation topics with your fellow candidates afterward to discuss/joke around about during lunch (which is a huge part of your interview).

Is there any info regarding when HOU might be hiring again? Or if AUS will ever be a base?

Also, for the Houston guys/gals, on an average month how many overnights are you usually seeing? Is your schedule mostly day trips and home?
