The OpsSpecs say we need it, it was blessed by the FAA. So until the FAA comes knocking on our doors, which they haven't in the company history, we continue to all log appropriately. Oh and our guys are leaving for places like Delta, United, Virgin, Southwest. Why haven't their hiring boards said anything about logging time in a single pilot airplane? Oh that's right because it's a crewed environment.

Excellent points if I can join this party. The important part on these is the TCDS for the aircraft. Here's the FAA TCDS on crew for the EMB500 (same for 505).

"Minimum Crew for all Flights (See NOTE 5 for cockpit equipment/arrangement restrictions):
One pilot (in the left pilot seat) plus additional equipment as specified in the Limitations
Section of the FAA Approved Airplane Flight Manual
OR
One pilot and one copilot

I believe the "additional equipment" is a boom mic and an Autopilot. If you have those that's fine as you can still fall on the "One pilot and one copilot". If one wanted to get nitpicky, take out the boom mic and you definitely need two pilots.

The airlines are in fact grabbing pilots who go down this road, and if SWA, DAL, and AA don't care, why would anyone else?

I believe its 12 months then another 6 for recurrent or something. I can't remember to be honest. They've been jumping at me for awhile. Best to go in with a tier 2 request on pay if you have time in type and/or previous 135 experience and 135 PIC (297) check rides completed. Tier 1 is around 44k i believe. tier 2 mid 50's and tier 3 72k ish. Please correct me if I am wrong. This is from their recruiting office. Oh, I almost forgot....... The contract isn't prorated. You leave in month 12, you owe the whole thing.

When you interview, remember you are interviewing the company as well.

Among other things to ask them, ask why they make you sign a non-prorated training contract that has a dollar value greater than the training you receive. For example, the training costs the company $16K. Why do you sign a promissory note for $20K? And why is it not prorated? "To protect the flight line" is the answer you will get. Whatever that means!

Ask about the part in the employment contract that says they can fire you at will, for any reason, or no reason at all. Ask if you still have to repay the training contract under those circumstances. Ask why they can let someone go whenever they want, but require employees to give 90 days notice before leaving. You read that correctly, 90 DAYS NOTICE. You are in breach of contract if you don't!

Ask how they notify you when you're in crew rest. Ask if you're considered to be in rest between trips while simultaneously required to answer the phone. Ask if they switch trips from part 135 to part 91 at the last minute to get around crew rest legalities. Ask what happens if you call fatigued and then give the slightest bit of push back on accepting those trips.

Since it looks like you're shooting fo the PC12, I won't go into all the questionable stuff they do with pilots in the jets.

Oh, and don't forget to ask them about the results of the FAA investigation and enforcement action they recently were hit with. Ask if the individual who was specifically called out in the investigation for creating a poor safety culture still works there.

Last, ask why they have such a high turnover rate, and not just with the pilots. You will be told that it's because people are chasing higher paychecks. But the truth is that many of the people who leave do so for lower paying jobs. And they are willing to break the training contract to do so.

If you have other options, explore them thoroughly. If you don't, at least go in with your eyes open. They'll try to make it sound like they are the best outfit going. But just remember the old saying about lipstick and pigs.

Default Pay Scale?

I haven't seen anything if they are hiring street captains or not? Any ideas if they are? Whats the pay structure? I'm typed and current in the phenom 100 and looking for a better paying gig with better QOL. I'm only getting my 13 days off per quarter right now and on call constantly. Reading the last post makes me skeptical, but I sent in a resume anyway to see what they say. Any advice would be appreciated.

I’m typed in the phenom 300 with around 4000 hours TT. Their pay is real low, 75 to start. Got a bad vibe from them in general, I’d keep looking but that’s just my opinion.

They don't have a CP currently. Recently granted an extension by the FAA. So one guy is having to do everything.

Do they fly with 2 pilots all the time because of insurance requirements or some times is just one pilot ?
