Actually, you probably wouldn’t have been able to express your opinion. I received 2 different ALPA contract survey calls. Both surveys were horribly flawed. The format was entirely wrong and encouraged the respondent to pick 2 or 3 things from a predetermined list. This leads to biased results.
I worked for a company while in college and for a year between undergrad and graduate school. It was our business to conduct scientifically valid surveys for businesses ranging from toilet cleaning services to car dealerships, medical practices, employers re: employee satisfaction, to accountants and lawyers, etc.
We had a PhD in statistics on staff who verified each question set before it was used. The methods and questions used in the ALPA survey would have never left our building. I chuckle and come close to shedding a tear every time our union leadership refers to the survey results as justification for ignoring the will of the pilots they’re supposed to be representing.

I agree that the survey seemed poorly done. If I remember correctly, the only thing that I said needing improving in our contract was our crew meal selections. I mean, can a brother get a different GoPicnic box!
Am I right?

Our current vacation gives a pilot a choice between making extra money or getting substantial time off and everything in-between. It basically satisfies most needs. Our NC position from the beginning has been if you want it we want profit sharing. Im a max days off type of person so personally i would chose to keep the vac over profit sharing. Its a known quantity every year.

Unfortunately With the current “days” system a reserve has the pleasure of giving the company 2 or 3 FREE days for every week of vacation.
For people who sat reserve for YEARS this sucks.....granted if you keep your sick bank at 0 and use vac days to cover sick time you can whittle vac weeks down to 4 or 5 days per period......but what if you really get sick?
Yea yea with 13+ yrs seniority you could be a senior line holder SOMEWHERE....just not Denver

Add 5,6,7 weeks of vac as seniority grows past 12,16 and 20 yrs....
Even things out for jr guys and add for senior peps
It would also give the company a defined vac cost.....more..... but a defined cost

Your discribing what nk has. The problem with it is you lose the credit for the trip touch and thier credit of 3.5 per day doesn’t make up the difference. One week of thier vac is worth roughly 22-24hrs (I don’t remember what a day if worth but it’s in the 3’s). I have been able to knock out 40-50 mid level seniority without any issue for years. Even when trip came back through domicile (transition vac) when I was jr. So if you want to give up credit in a vac months that’s what will happen. I personally wouldn’t mind if we could drop to zero.

Then when they go to pref bid there goes the ability to get big chunks of time off. Pairings will be built around vacation. It’s a wait and see at the moment but you know that’s what the company (nk) will shoot for. Don’t know enough about thier pref bid language? If it can mitigate that at all?
