I’m not 100% against being reassigned mid trip, I know that this is a business and being reliable is an important part of that. However, if the company is going to remove us from a trip that we were awarded by seniority, they should compensate us 150%- 200% over guarantee for the reassignment portion. This compensates the pilot for their hassle and penalizes the company for changing schedules. In theory it “should” limit the amount of reassignments. Even if it doesn’t, at least the pilot makes a little extra money at the end of the month.

I came from a regional where the company would exploit every loophole it could find. Without language penalizing the company for things that reduce QOL it will become their new routine. We have to take into consideration that we will most likely be short staffed for the foreseeable future. With the aggressive growth plans and industry bottom pay we are going to find it hard to staff once hiring ramps up at the big 3. We really need to guard against loose language that could become a nightmare for QOL.

^^^^This exactly^^^^

We MUST be compensated an additional percentage amount for the reassignment or it will become normal scheduling practice for this management.

Maybe we can exploit it back. This contract is riddled with weak language. Check out this one in section 3...

L. SHOW PAY
Except for a Pilot returning from sick status in accordance with Paragraph 14.D., if two (2) Pilots are scheduled and show for the same Sequence, the senior Pilot shall have the option of flying the Sequence. The Pilot who flies will receive Pay Credit for the Sequence in accordance with Paragraph 3.E.6. and the other Pilot shall receive Pay Credit for the scheduled value of the Sequence.

So Captains who show up to the same pairing number as their FOs can elect to have the FO fly while they go home (unless the FO is senior, then the FO could elect to go home). Of course this isn’t the intent of the language but I can’t believe the company let this one slip in there. Makes me wonder what other crap the company can pull with the loose language. It will be manipulated, I’m certain.

So when is the MEC going to fire the Negotiating Commitee ? Or are you willing to recall MEC members ?
Are you willing to wait out another TA for an unknown period of time for a better TA ? That answer could be ABSOLUTELY yes but understand that there is a price of time and money (lost earnings) for another bite at the apple.
If the mediator thinks this was a good deal (whether it is or not is immaterial) game over and be put on ice.
I have supported this pilot group either way and always will - just trying to paint the bigger picture.
Good Luck

The mediator didn’t get us this deal now. Indigo did. They’re ready to get a deal done. Regardless of the NMB or any mediator.
