Of course.

How do you get fatigued on reserve? You can REST/SLEEP!!!

Look, I'm all for using the contract and work rules to get as much pay and QoL that I can, but the use of the fatigue call is for pilots who are actually fatigued. That would mean that you have either been at work or up so long that you can't fly.

Calling in fatigued after sitting on reserve and being in a position where you can rest half a day is abuse IMO.

But, if it works for you, more power to you...

This is no joke. One of our pilots called fatigued because his cat kept interrupting his “rest”.

Sure was a better idea than flying fatigued, eh?

As jokingly as it seems, it doesn’t matter who what or why you’re fatigued. When you are, you are.

Exactly it kinna surprises me people joke about this. Maybe you couldn’t fall asleep? Maybe there is construction going on next to your house ? If you are fatigued you always need to call in fatigued. Reserve or line, home or not home. One of the few good programs and protections we have. You should never judge someone for calling in and this is exactly what it is for. I dropped the F bomb twice last 3 years and I never use it unless I consider myself actually to tired to work.

I called in fatigued from home while on reserve one day in 2018. I was honest about it. I was an early morning reserve and I just couldn’t sleep the night before. Too much on my mind. Entirely my fault.

I thought I could tough it out and make it through the day, but then almost caused several accidents within 5 miles of my home (hour drive commute), so I called scheduling and pulled the plug.

I filed the report and was honest about the cause. I’d have to go back and look at my paystub, but I’m pretty sure I was charged with a sick day. That’s fine with me. I’m just a normal human being and sometimes things happen.

That's minor league... We had a pilot fatigue out because he was worried his vacation MIGHT cancel and he couldn't sleep.

IMSAFE

I guess you're not. Did you call the fatigue police on them?

ToddChavez, welcome back and Happy New Year!

Have you decompressed from that Villain that wrote you a Concerned Pilots letter?
I personally called Barney Fife and he said he is ready to investigate and perpetrate the offender!
