The original post I responded to was about the use of fatigue call because the person was on reserve and wanted to be released. If that’s the case, then that’s abuse.

The other just mentioned examples all seem legitimate and aren’t something that happens routinely.

Cmon now...

Look, I'm all for using the contract and work rules to get as much pay and QoL that I can, but the use of the fatigue call is for pilots who are actually fatigued. That would mean that you have either been at work or up so long that you can't fly.

Calling in fatigued after sitting on reserve and being in a position where you can rest half a day is abuse IMO.

But, if it works for you, more power to you...

How does the reassignment language have anything to do with reserves? If you’re on reserve and not being used then you’re just on reserve. They can’t call and say “you’re being reassigned to stay on reserve longer.” Reserves have their own protections. Once they’re assigned a trip it’s the same as being a line holder.

If they want to reassign me to get the operation back on track then fine but if they think that just because the contract says they can make me sit at the airport that I’m going to willfully do it for hours on end they have a surprise coming. I think the “stay at the airport” verbiage is for when they don’t want you going to hotel when they know they’re going to have extra flying but haven’t built the pairing or figured everything out yet. More like a “we are checking on legality and trying to see if this will work so sit tight for a few and we will call you back” type situation.

No, I said that when I was on reserve I would get released half the time. I also said if I get held at the airport awaiting reasignment, and I sit there for longer than I was expecting I call fatigued. 2 answers to to questions.

[QUOTE=Biffsteritis;2727016]I wanted to compare our contract to Spirits. I went and got my hands on a Spirit contract. I suggest you all do the same. Like the union said, make an informed decision!

Great comparison, except where did you compare the Red/Green (75% of trips post line award must have additional reserves coverage in order to drop trips you don't want - no swapping or trade required) system NK has? I think that was a big deal for many during the vote.

Reserve from 7PM-9AM. Getting a call to operate LAS-LAX-DTW red eye. That’s a fatigue call i’ve seen. Its worse being on those types of reserve since you have to sleep during the day just incase.

I wrote this weeks ago and I still believe it. Admittedly, today it is difficult for me to not be disappointed in our pilot group. It will be even more difficult to forgive those pilots who profited heavily during negotiations. As Barry said, “It’s a tough pill to swallow.”

Signing off.

I guess my sample size was large enough to be pretty accurate.
