Yeah I never did the cold or hot bed thing. I would rent a room in the area when I was on reserve, and even held the room as a line holder for while. Once I figured out that I could commute the day of my trip, I got rid of the room. It was actually a good deal at the time, $400 for a private room and shared bathroom in DC. But I always had around 3 days off in-between trips on reserve and as a line holder, so I was able to get home to see the fam.

I would NOT bid for Vegas…. Unless you like endless red eyes with no end in sight (stagnant).

Fo’s close to res pre covid are bidding in the mid 20’s but ok. I wouldn’t consider that stagnant. There are alot of redeyes no doubt which is why I mentioned the turn options. I haven’t a redeye in years bidding close to 50.

LAS is stagnant as they are growing other bases, which is why people are bidding out of LAS to upgrade. Bid packets don’t lie. You have to gain some seniority to get those 4 turn day trips and hopefully, if you’re a commuter, you can group them together. However, if you can stomach commuting from DFW to a FL base, you will find the schedules & seniority you’re seeking.

Also… “ Fo’s close to res pre covid are bidding in the mid 20’s but ok.” that is completely not true.

I haven’t looked at Fl flying so Sounds like you better dialed in on that. However a pilot close to res in my crash pad was barley holding a bottom line right before covid. He’s now mid 20’s.

Also, I’m bidding mid 40’s and have 2-3 4 leg turns for February. It’s almost exclusively 2 leg west coast. Sounds like some fo’s are not bidding correctly.

There must be a lot of Captains and FO’s I know bidding incorrectly then.

This is good information, but a bit misleading. Not on the part of this poster, but the numbers themselves. ATL has no 3 day trips for February (expected as it’s a new base). The computer flags them as 3 days because they get done after midnight on day 2. I don’t know the breakdown in other bases, but anything that gets done after midnight adds an extra day to the length of the trip when these reports are generated.
