Looks like the junior FO in ORD for the February bid is an October, 2021 newhire. I would think he’s just barely finished with his training in time for February flying.

65 FO bidders for February. You’d probably need to be no lower than about 50-ish to get a line. The #50 bidder in ORD was hired in March of 2020. Even so, as someone else alluded to in a prior post, just being able to hold a line doesn’t mean you’ll be able to get what you want. A complete wild guess on my part, but I’d estimate that there are many senior people who will be bidding for commutable trips so it may take some time to get what you want.

Seems like any way you slice it, being junior is going to suck for a while! I’m sure I’m telling you something you didn’t already know! 😜

Just looked at the January PBS award. Junior guy getting "a line" in PBS is a 3/20 hire. Almost two years for a line...

ETA: OpenClimb already looked....

The movement here is pretty good. I bid around 80% get awarded a crappy schedule and then when open times opens, I get to adjust it so it turns out pretty awesome. I’m a commuter and am constantly changing my schedule. It’s a little harder to plan things but I get a lot of time at home. For January I’ll be home at a minimum 19 days off. With the planned growth you should be able to figure out a solid schedule after your first year. I really do love the flexibility here.

Yeah I knew being junior would suck, but I know Frontier wants to more than double it's pilot pool, so getting in now would be great for the future. Just was trying to gauge which base would be best for myself. Praying even more now for a DFW base opening lol. Even on reserve at my prior airlines, it wasn't bad as a commuter. Usually we had 3 days off, gave me chance to get home and have a couple of days at home.

If I'm just going to be stuck at domicile all the time on reserve or as a line holder, maybe I will try for Orlando or Philly. Hoping to get home at least a couple of times a month if that's the case.

There’s several dfw commuters in las. Lots of flights plus a redeye on everyone most days. No weather issues like phl. Might look at that as las is still growing a bit.

Yup. Plus there’s movement on the fo side as it’s a bit senior so thier taking the upgrades. Get a real crash pad and bid turns after your off res. It’s not hard to get 5 credit west coast turns where your basically paid duty time.

Ray did tell me during my interview that he knows quite a few commuters from DFW. He's the one who told me that there is a rumor that DFW could possibly happen in the near future, but of course you never know...

I didn't even really think about LAS, man my buddy used to live there and recently moved. With all the base choices It's tough to figure out which would be best for a DFW commuter. Looks like I may need to find me a pilot who commutes from DFW and get his take on it as well!! Really appreciate the information! Pretty pumped about coming here!
