Company restated their belief in "modular" flying to mitigate operational meltdowns in their q3 earnings call. I'd expect on a percentage basis for our trips to be modestly comprised of day turns in bases that are not gate constrained (ORD), for the foreseeable future.

Also, FWIW %1 day trips do NOT include red-eye turns. They are taken into consideration on the 2 day numbers.
Awesome, thank you!

So..... the future is not day turns?

This place is in the constant experimentation phase at all times. Nothing is consistent around here. Do not base your decision to come here on us flying mostly fast turns or multi day trips.

DEN cut the number of day turns in half in 1 month. And I'm sure they'll add them all back at some point

the word im hearing is that the emerald tower has determined the 1-2 day stuff hasn’t worked the way they wanted it to. Go figure, it won’t until we open a lot more bases. Netting 1 new base a year won’t help that cause.

Fwiw: My pref bid is set up for multi-day trips in mia. Last month i had all 4-day trips, this month has been all day turns, next month I'm back to all 4-day again. I think there're still trying to figure out what works.

Literally they said on November 10th that the 1-2 day stuff (Modular flying) was working well for them in the investors call.

Any idea what % are red-eyes? I'd imagine a certain seniority on a line you can bid out of red-eyes correct?

Depends significantly on the base. LAS and DEN have a lot. But 50% seniority could keep you out of them entirely I think.

I hope not. Hopefully this is just due to what management alluded to in the 3Q earnings call - that they are lowering capacity due to slightly lower-than-expected demand.
