Anyone else have a feeling that we are on the verge of a major announcement (merger/acquisition/something else)?
Someone brought up the point that Spirits (and F9s for that matter) stock price is still way down from pre-pandemic. Both have orders, looking to grow and compete, and maybe this pandemic has gone on longer than anyone has thought it would, keeping stock prices lower than they thought. Pilot shortages, staffing challenges - anyone else have any thoughts?

Oh I’m sure it’s a total pipe dream. I’m still in the shock/anger phase, trying to move on to the acceptance phase that my life just drastically changed for the worse. I didn’t expect to be spending this week updating my airlineapps account.

Same. When I am displaced it will be nice to say it’s to UA

That sucks; especially if you’re ORD based. Really sorry to hear that and I hope that it works out. I honestly thought I would have my retirement gig here but I’m not sure that the potential instability and “projected growth” is worth it. EWR is 20 minutes closer than Philly anyway. Isn’t a single app free on airlineapps?

The Class that started this tuesday had 6 or 7 hold ORD on their first day bids going to 3 fleets - 737, 320, 756. several 777/787 EWR, DCA, SFO to newhires. UAL is doing next day CJOs now with class dates barely a month out. Tuesdays class was 70 newhires and they plan to hold a class a week indefinitely.

Just kidding about the free app. Yeah, I’ve got them in everywhere. I honestly think AA would be a bit of “out of the frying pan and into the fire,” and I’m also not sure if their upgrade times have come down. UAL became more attractive due to the upgrade times. For those of us with sub 10 years til retirement, ULCC made the most $$ sense until the recent change to upgrades at UAL. I’ve also been spoiled and won’t commute. Thankfully I have that option not to and I realize that not everyone is so lucky. Best to all though.

Financially AA isn't in as bad a position as most think. They have completed fleet replacement and retired all their aging fleet.

AA is retiring 50% of their pilots in the next 7 years. New projections are NB CA 3 years, WB FO 5 years, WB CA 10 years. - This is what they are currently briefing their new hire classes as of this past week. Hold any base in network w/in 6-9 months if hired in the next 6 months or so. 2K pilots being hired this year, 2K next, then re-assess. Union currently meeting 5 days a week for the next month to negotiate interim 2 year pay raise and schedule improvements. Estimated 30% pay increase to most of the scale. Looking to get year 1 pay to 117-120 ish.
