Also, there were 101 FOs bidding in LAS for July but our online portal shows 135 FOs in base for next month or so. That’s a pretty dramatic change and junior line holder could change accordingly.
Oh wow so they're growing the base by 24 new FOs. That should help with movement and reducing reserve times. It'll be interesting to see what PHX will do but typically all bets would be that it'd make LAS more junior? Or at least alleviate some of the congestion from the west coast pilots?

34 but yes. You would hope so but they could also just make more reserve lines. We should get a bid packet in about a week with that info and I’ll try to remember to follow up. That’s the hope but there also is the possibility that they stack LAS and DEN with extra FOs for now and then shrink those bases to staff PHX when it opens. We should have a clearer picture of the plan in just under a month.

New to the 121 world, sorry if this is an already asked question. I was expecting a system like other airlines where you can bid every month for your base, but how does vacancy bid work at F9? You can only change your base every three months (once a quarter) if there's openings available in the place you want?

Thanks in advance

You can change everytime there is a vacancy announcement or do a trade every quarter. Vacancies will likely be offered monthly for the foreseeable future. They may look like 40 openings in mia for FOs. It's possible (but unlikely at F9) that a senior Denver FO is wanting MIA, and generates a DEN vacancy in the process. Upgrades out to be steady, so in theory there will be a steady stream of vacancies for FOs everywhere.

What is the likehoood/thoughts of F9 opening a Southern California base sometime next year? Maybe ONT since a lot of flying is done there? SAN base would be killer.

It does make sense that with the 321XLRs coming they’ll probably do Hawaii to compete with all the other airlines at LAX.

if you wanna slow attrition and expand recruiting, you open more west coast bases. Why do you think OO can still fill classes? Especially now with the WO rates? It’s Strictly base specific. If F9 opens another west coast base after Phx, it’s gonna be unstoppable

Unlikely. CA labor laws would require a CBA renegotiation as the current CBA violates CA law. At least that’s why VP of HR has said in the past.

What’s going to be unstoppable? Their ability to expand and recruit?
