You can do that in LAS too, time will tell.

Yep. Different markets though.

The Phoenix metro area is booming.. 5 Million in population and growing fast.

It makes sense. I just wonder why they didn't open PHX a long time ago vs Miami or some of the other small bases. Anyone ?

Looks like they should have. Only explanation for MIA is a jump off to South/Central America that didn’t or isn’t working as planned. It opened 3/20. If it opened a month or 2 later maybe it never even opens?
Either way PHX seems like a no brainer. It’s growing a ton and will continue to as long as California Californias. MX. People want to live there. Vacation destination. It’ll be fine.
Im not as convinced with DFW though..

Is it safe to say attrition at F9 is inversely proportional to seniority? I think that’s an obvious assumption.

Is it also safe to say that a new base is more vulnerable to closing than a long standing, established base?

Not in the case of Chicago, it was a long-standing, established base.

Not to bash Chicago as a base but a lot of us knew Chicago was eventually on the chopping block. It was opened for Apple vacations pre ULCC model. Most Chicago trips flew turns out of other bases because there just wasn’t enough flying out of there.

Seems like MIA may have opened in anticipation of the Spirit merger and now that it has been called off MIA may be the next base to be closed.

I agree that if another base is to close its likely MIA. But we need to stop this train of thought about base closing.

There is no reason for them to close a base if it's working. Stop talking like it's just a foregone conclusion that a bases will close

Are there any protections in F9s contract that make it expensive for the company to close based and displace pilots? (I.e move pay or compensation for displacements)
