Gotta love the ignore feature on this site. Just hope our CAs can also do you a favor and ignore you.

I agree, as pilots we let egos get in the way a lot of times. But there is also nothing wrong with keeping an open mind. Experience comes in every way shape and form. Sometimes from the most unexpected people. I will always help out and make it a point to teach something if I see an opportunity.

I think the takeaway here is that your peers are checking you because you are making assertions that are, "outliers" at best. I imagine you want to move on to a legacy. If you are up for advice I would suggest you take this feedback and the chiding you have received here to heart and self reflect on these blind spots in the way you perceive yourself and in your communication skills. These issues will most likely get picked up in the interview processes that are currently being employed at the legacy carriers. Maybe I'm wrong but there's my two cents.

I guess it’s hard for you guys to receive context from what I write. I appreciate the concern, I have lots of experience with communication, seeing as florida is very busy airspace and the controllers are quick.

Did we really hire this guy? I can’t believe how desperate we have become!!! I guess the gate keepers let one slip through once in a great while. However, I will say we do a great job of weeding them out over time!!! 😂

How many of us think F9 is some great destination? I know in the PAST it was (circa prior to 9/11 and maybe prior to Indigo as well), but I think all F9 labor (that's pilots, FAs, gate agents, scheduling, Mx, etc) need to think about the kind of person who ends up working here at this point. Lots of other airlines are hiring and despite the smiling face lies from our CEO, we're not growing. Stock price is 1/2 of what it's opening was. We don't fly anywhere with any frequency of more than 3 flights a day. Our customer service is probably industry lowest and that certainly spills over into the operation and customer behavior. And, pay is now (or will soon be) average of $100 less PER HOUR for CAs than the new contracts being handed out. We certainly don't pay our CS agents, baggage handlers or Mx any great amounts. I would say it's very few who CHOOSE F9 out of shear desire - possibly for a specific base (and to be quite honest, anyone who DOES choose this place w/o some future plans to leave in mind makes me wonder about them). Currently, I think we are the only major w/ a training contract. In fact, I challenge anyone here to pick our one area (that's positive) where we lead the industry. So, why berate Embry Riddle guy? He or she's obviously a tool and I've often wondered if they're really just some UA pilot with time on they're hand trolling for fun. But, despite that, if there were ever an major airline that deserved such a combination of worthlessness, it's probably us. F9 deserves ERguy. And, before you start chucking spears my way - this too is obviously a troll piece. Sort of. |

I don't know if we did or didn't. But the question you ask brings up a fairly serious thought about F9 and where we lie in the pantheon of airlines.

When the time comes (and it always does in this business) tell me where to show up and I will once again walk in circles to make sure you get what you deserve in your next contract 👊🏻 |

I plan on staying here for the rest of my career. couple months over a year here and I am making good money, 17 days off, mostly 1 days, no redeyes, all weekends and holidays off. I couldn't get that at any of the legacies, especially the angry triangle if I tried. It would take at least 5-8 years for that QOL on the bus (as an FO). That being said. We have our issues, but stuff changes, we have only been a ULCC for a little over 7 years. I am hopeful (lol) that management is starting to see the issues and work on it. I will say that in the last couple weeks, gate agents have been nicer to box crew and pax, ground crews are snappier, etc. There is still a lot to be worked out with spreading a fleet so thin and that will hopefully change with more planes and pilots. |
