Don’t hesitate to follow your own advice. Life is too short to be as miserable as you seem to be

lol so anyone who acknowledges F9s problems should leave?

low quality response to a high quality post

So every company has problems. No doubt. Telling people on anonymous message board why come/stay is what I’m responding to.

Maybe try reading what we said more carefully next time.

I plan on staying here for the rest of my career. couple months over a year here and I am making good money, 17 days off, mostly 1 days, no redeyes, all weekends and holidays off. I couldn't get that at any of the legacies, especially the angry triangle if I tried. It would take at least 5-8 years for that QOL on the bus (as an FO).

That being said. We have our issues, but stuff changes, we have only been a ULCC for a little over 7 years. I am hopeful (lol) that management is starting to see the issues and work on it. I will say that in the last couple weeks, gate agents have been nicer to box crew and pax, ground crews are snappier, etc. There is still a lot to be worked out with spreading a fleet so thin and that will hopefully change with more planes and pilots.

17 days off with a lot of 1 days after a year? Where are you based? I've got a CJO waiting on a training date, planning to shoot for Tampa

I don’t consider myself miserable but I agreed with dracirs post. Too many pilots due to pride or whatever can’t come to grips with it. One day they will understand, nothing matters at this airline but one thing: cost. That means everything else, the selfie videos, press releases about new routes, memos, daily ops emails, etc, are window dressing. The people who run this airline are obsessed with costs and keeping them as low as possible. To staff ground crew, contract with reliable vendors, generally care about the product, that all costs money. So they spend as little of it as they possibly can and yell about it when things go south. Maybe fire a ground handler. Just happened in ATL. Anyone here long enough remembers when they had to do the same thing in DEN years ago, swissport was so bad BB junior assigned the GO workers to throw bags (and he joined them). Rinse and repeat. For many, including myself, this is a double edged sword. You want to work for a company that makes money and is responsible financially. But you also want to do it the right way. Saying you are doing low fares right costs as much as one of BBs free smiles :) doing it right costs more.

Does anyone remember the beginning of free agency in football? A player had to SUE to get it. And that player, Reggie White, was one of the best (if not THE best defensive player to ever play the game). It had to start with someone like him - there had to be a desire from other teams to play for them.

But, this industry doesn't have a Reggie White. In fact, it doesn't have a rating system of pilots at all. If you're good enough to pass your sim and line checks, you're good enough period. So, the one outstanding industry wide staple that will never die is seniority. While being somewhat beneficial to labor, it's the best thing in the world for airline management. In fact, the whole industry could fail before seniority be trumped.

While we have that, EVERY comment about leaving your airline for another after years AT that airline are ridiculous. Insulting in fact. Especially if you talk to a pilot who was hired when an airline was great (like Frontier) but later turned $hitty for reasons beyond that pilot's control.

Suffice it to say that if the industry didn't have a seniority system, the current F9 wouldn't exist...

And just so you know, I'm not miserable. Just informed. And aware. Making $300k a year is great but if it's less than others who do the same job but have better work conditions while doing it, I tend to speak out about that and do what I can to improve my own lot.

Who said anything about coming/staying? I think that was you...

And some companies have more problems than others.

Spirit is a better airline than us. They have better management. Ask ANY spirit guy if they'd rather have who they have now (or even JB mgt) or go back to Franke/Biffle.

I too have seen some change in attitude and improvement. Let's hope it continues and translates to an equitable contract.

🍻. When the time comes (and it always does in this business) tell me where to show up and I will once again walk in circles to make sure you get what you deserve in your next contract 👊🏻

Thank you my brother. Same to you while you'll work out your next contract.
