Anyone find the end of collective bargaining for some government workers as mildly alarming?

Hopefully. Or we will still see 700 flights on peak days and 200 on off days and tons of pilots sitting reserve, no flying for them, COLAs, and lines with 10hr 3 days being the norm.

People flocked to them and away from their neighborhood store they had shopped for years. The store's name was Wal-Mart. Eventually, those smaller shops went out of business.

As soon as that happened, Wal Mart raised prices.

Why wouldn't United do the same in FLL? Especially considering NK's 6% market share.

NK going away is not going to benefit F9 as much as people think - it's just one less competitor for the Big 4 to deal w/.
Agree NK not benefiting F9. UA doesn’t NK’s stuff at FLL….but they will happily put a nail in the coffin.

Hitting hard must = profitability though.

Shoppers can visit WalMart, JC Penny, Dillards and Macy's all at once via Expedia, Travelocity, etc. Since most people who don't have any loyalty shop by price, Dillards, Macy's and Penney's can all afford to match WalMarts prices (which are very limited) in the single shopping market which has all products at the same time. Right now, F9 has about 20ish destinations from Atlanta. DL has about 50. I'm sure they can match our 20 w/ little impact to their pockets. We share bases w/ every airline except for Tampa.

No one is leaving NK just to shop F9 and now the Big 3 have only 1 company to match. About the only hope F9 has is to entice those NK CC holders and loyalty program members to now join ours.

Or change the model.
Definitely change the model if not too late. There is negligible loyalty from customers at F9 or Spirit. That must change for F9 to succeed. It was a royal f up to screw over the passengers. Spirit is not F9’s savior. There is room and a market for LCC’s but it has to be done profitably. The majors have unlocked the secret to taking LCC customers. F9 should be afraid of SW and AA.

unfortunately you can’t go some places once a day or x3 a day everyday on 240/230 or even 190 seat airplanes.

You either fill those airplanes to the max with low paying customers.

Fill them halfway with high paying customers.

Or make money thru other means such as ancillaries, credit cards, etc.

it’s a wet dream to serve these cities 3x a day everyday. The planes will go and comeback empty.

that’s why legacies have various seating #s, various classes/configurarions, and B scale regionals.

Just from memory, so FWIW. When SWA bought TRA they were four times the size, and had one third of the amount of destinations. Maybe a smaller denser route network is better. I am no expert.
