Yes, base closures apparently, 3-5. Opening maybe 1 or 2 new locations instead. (I would expect CVG, MIA, SJU, TPA, MAYBE CLE to be on the chopping block) New bases? Idk, maybe Houston? LA? NY?

MM came in and spoke to the ground school and said June COLAs are incoming, apparently.

So we will see.
Great. Here comes the backwards sliding seniority two summers in a row, lol.

Not a chance they open NY after they gutted all the JFK/LGA flying.

5?! Effin A. Close MIA and open FLL. Wouldn’t that be a trip? I don’t see why they wouldn’t just try to dual base it like Chicago. Though MDW is almost dead for us now. I guess all will be revealed in time.

How does a leisure airline have COLA’s during the heaviest vacation travel time of the year?

Mismanagement.. but specifically in this case likely a reaction to jet fuel prices.

Last time we did colas they were very limited. Only some seats in some bases. It's an easy way for the company to save some money. It's big a big deal.

They are just trying to manage pilot staffing, fleet count, block hours, fuel prices and demand. $5 gas isn't helpful.

5 bases sounds sounds like too many to me.

They still want to run the airline on day turns so you do need a fairly large number of bases to do that. I think we see 2 or 3 closures at the most. Id be shocked to see 5 bases close

Id be shocked if it was more than 2. They still want turns, and a point of emphasis according to JD is maintenance. For those 2 reasons I can only really see CVG and MIA.

Is it true there won’t be anymore upgrades this year?

Closing MIA would be a huge mistake. A large part of NKs bread and Butter is FLL to South America. Thus far we have done an exceedingly poor job of making that expansion, but many of the gates we have are international. The gate area is actually about the right size for the plane.
