I don't work for RAH; I haven't since my internship with Chautauqua ended in August of 2004. I just grow quite weary of the same old tired ill-informed and/or ignorant revisionist history about RAH being regurgitated on teh intarwebs as fact.

And yes, I fully expect that section to survive the current negotiations. After giving up so much in 2003 to get it and protect their jobs (and later seeing the TSA/GJT debacle, when so many ex-waterskiiers now work at RAH) I can't imagine what they'd sell it for when they already have so much leverage.

I am admittedly defensive of most issues regarding Republic since I am employed by them and there are many "interesting" thoughts and opinions regarding a lot of recent issues. However, in light of this most recent news, it simply leaves a nasty feeling in the pit of my stomach that leaves me without much to say...

Hopefully Frontier will be kept separate from the RAH seniority list and will be kept as a separate entity in it's entirety. We shall see..

I appreciate the info and am not directing this at you nor anyone in particular, but what leverage do the RAH pilots have right now? Do you think any of the legacies RAH flies for will cancel their contracts because they dont want to pay a competitor?

I blame Priceline, Orbitz and Alfred Kahn. The validation for this sick model is provided by 50 million clicks of the mouse every day. The enemy is sitting in the seats behind the bulkhead. One thing and one thing only factors into their "bid" for a seat on your airplane... rock bottom price.

It's not that customers might not be willing to pay a little more, but how the information of what they are buying is presented. The on line "bid for seat" companies only present their potential tickets by price. They aren't as likely to mention the connection in DTW and EWR in bold print, as they are to show a ranking by price. Nor do they bother to state that you may have the least common bidder at the controls vs. a seasoned veteran. Set a Phoenix online university grad after those type of hits and your bound to get an RAH business model.

The real "need to travel" white collar businessman long since left our miserable little hub and spoke joke for the comfort and TSA free convenience of frac ownership and the charter world. What's left is the people that live near your hubs and the discretionary traveler.

If F9 DOES become a part of RAH...their pilots will have to be integrated into the RAH pilot list. It's cut and dry in our contract.

F9 pilots stating BB is looking for complete scope relief are retarded. Scope relief on what??? BB isn't trying to buy your airline to farm the planes out for someone else to fly. It's another cut and dry portion of our contract. If RAH owns the airplane, then RAH pilots fly 'em. And if RAH buys F9, F9 pilots become RAH pilots. So...you...fly...your...own...airplane. That's the concept the majors lost sight of a LONG time ago.

AND - since we don't have an Airbus pay rate...that means it's negotiating time. They got 60 days to work out a pay rate before it goes to forced Arbitration (again, cut and dry out of the contract). If people think Airbii are just going to show up on property and we're going to happily cruise around in them for $30 an hour, they need to have their head examined. It's not like the end-around they pull putting "just enough" seats on a 190 and saying "Here, fly this". This is a whole new aircraft, with a whole new set of rules and actually...a lot more leverage for the pilot group.

Now...I'm just guessing on all this...it's amazing how many "experts" popped up for a News Release that's THREE HOURS OLD!

Also the disgust is more so with your management so don't take it so personal, and if it bothers you that much, leave your phone number so we can talk like adults, once again thank you and goodnight

This is about the MOST intelligent comment I have read on this site. Unfortunately, I wish this site would have more intelligent people.
