It also looks like the management cries of no money for realistic pay, or realistic work rules is nothing but LIES. However, this isn't just a regional issue... JetBlue just got very good raises, at a time when everybody says they have no money... if they have no money now, and could afford to give the JB guys raises.... then what was their excuse when times were good..... and shame on the rest of us who have unions for lettign them get away with this crap.... and shame on our unions for not doing their jobs either.... just seems like if your a line pilot.... everybody is lying to you... both management and your union....

We have a winner! I can't believe you guys are all in shock over this. Seriously, Bedford was investing in these companies because he's a nice guy, nonsense! He is a shrewd businessman and hasn't lent a dollar that doesn't have collateral with something he wants.
said Bryan Bedford, chairman, president and CEO of Republic Airways. “Adding Frontier to the Republic portfolio of operating companies is an opportunity for both companies to build on recent successes and strengthen the Republic organization for the benefit of all stakeholders.”
Get it, that's who he works for, he's doing his job!
To all those dragging pay up AGAIN, and AGAIN! Give us a shot at negotiating a contract here. If anything this gives us even more leverage to bargain the chips higher. Will they be frontier rates, don't know. Frontier has been able to make money with the rates they are operating under so maybe that gives us a chance of seeing something real. And for god sake if we get something good hammered out, stay at your own crappy airline, we have enough problems.

This might not be such a bad thing for the Frontier pilots, or the Republic pilots, given Republic's scope. Frontier is a troubled carrier and can use Republic's resources. I assume Teamsters will be the surviving representational agent.
If Frontier had the cash and bought Republic we would hardly shrug. Given ALPA's predisposition to keep pilots separate within the same brand, that would actually be a WORSE outcome for the pilots on both sides.
We might be jumping the gun by assuming this is a repeat of MidWest. I don't think we can conclude that yet.
Also, the Bankruptcy Court has to approve this deal and that's not nearly the rubber stamp it once was.

It looks like the airlines are paying to much for feed these days if they have the cash for this.

I dont have a copy of my old RAH contract but I believe it explicitly states that any aircraft owned by RAH or any sub MUST be flown by pilots on the RAH master seniority list. Some sort of integration would have to take place if the current CBA remains in force. IF the union signs a side letter for this ...then all bets are off.
Bedford has made no bones about it.... he wants to be a big plane airline.... I suggest to you that with control of Frontier and Midwest...he is expecting to lose some of his feed through BK and cut backs.... Five years from now 175s will be his small aircraft and RAH will have been transformed from a contractor to an airline holding company with one, two or three mainline size airline companies.
If anyone thinks Bedford is going to sit around and have RAH whither on the vine they are mistaken. the key will be for ALL the pilots at RAH and FRONTIER to work for better pay and work rules.

Don't bet on the ALL FLYING crap in any contract... AMR has proven with TSA and CHQ that Eagles contract meant crap.... RAH has proven that Midwests ALL FLYING, no furloughs from subcontracting, meant crap...
whatever they want to happen, is what will happen. Get used to it

This RAH business model is scary..... hire people for terrible wages and work rules... claim poor mouth everytime ANYBODY asks for anything... then loan Midwest millions, while signing a contract that puts mainline pilots of the street... and then just a few months later, outright BUY another large aircraft operator... not too bad for a company that never had ANY money to pay their employees fairly, or treat them fairly.... and what's worse... everybody believed they had no money since it was a bare bones operations....
We, and our unions, really need to keep good documentation of things like this, so that when we are in arbitration and they cry poor mouth we can show them to be the liars they really are. There is no way these companies negotiated contracts in good faith... any of them.
So, does ANYBODY think the few majors that are in contract talks now should settle for anything less than major raises, or restitution of their lost wages?

You gotta be kidding me! If you think any F9ers should work with you, you are smoking the crack. Frontier's pilot union (FAPA) needs to fight this till the bitter end and if no agreements can be reached...shut the place down. If it does go through, I would hope that all Frontier pilots quit. I for one would rather quit and at least be able to look other pilots in the eyes when I say "I had no part of running the industry into the ground".
