Does anyone have the contact information for the single room crashpads people are using during training?

 

Looking for advice: Is a 16G iPad for EFB purposes sufficient if its clean with nothing on it (books,music, etc.)? Or should I buy a new one with at least 32G. Thanks!

 

I would go with 64 or larger. Seems like they keep adding files for in comply

 

Y'all are buying your own iPads?

 

The company provides us with a stipend (every 3 or 4 years I believe?) and we are allowed to purchase what we want and also use it for personal use, as we are the owner.

 

They give you $600 for an iPad. I have a 32. No movies or music. But I have plenty of apps and pictures on it. Never had a problem. Last I looked, I could get away with a 16 if I wanted.

 

I concur. I have a 64, but just checked it and I have most of that memory still available. If you were going to use it for just company use, 16 would be more than adequate.

But hey! Isn't bigger always better?!!

And you know, looking at Jepps for 3 and a half hours can get boring! Just sayin'.....

 

I know a few guys who said the 16gb really isn't enough unless all you have is the Jepp app and Comply

 

True. I have a 16GB and Jepp and Comply is all it can do. I would definitely opt for more storage capacity.

Yes and 16gb was barely enough memory to manage over the last 3 years. With the ever increasing file sizes (and application size after updates), you'll be lucky to make 32gb work for the next 3 years until the next stipend. Ben Dwyer has been coming into RGS and telling a story about Foreflight making a push to convert airlines over to their charts/app for a competitive fraction of the Jepp price. Apparently they've recently expanded access to international charts and have the ability to integrate company charts easily (which is pretty believable considering they're 4-5 years ahead of Jeppesen). Dwyer also said he reached out to Jepp after being approached by the Foreflight sales team and their response was essentially, "it's not on our radar." Foreflight has an awesome application, and I'd love to see the change, however their app does take up a considerable amount of memory (definitely more than Jepp). If we go Foreflight in the future more pilots will be running into iPad memory issues.
