After paying for your lodging during training and living on your $35K GROSS you won't find it relevant what junior RJ captains make. You'll care what A320 pilots make. Yes though, the jump to 67 an hour will be less of a financial burden than Frontier will have been up to that point.

After that first year beating I'd imagine grossing your 60k would start to grate on you even more while knowing that most everyone else out there is close or into 6 figures.
No offense taken. Your logic is sound. If you can get me in somewhere better, please pm me!

I don't see how I am a Troll for being shocked at the pay. I have the same size family and I could not do that to them, everyone is different. Certainly does not qualify for a troll remark. Also I do not work for a regional. Maybe you shouldn't get so butt hurt over a genuinely shocked person when they read your pay-rates. Have a good day.

This may or may not come to you as a surprise but not every pilot sees Frontier as attractive. You might say than why are you commenting in this thread? Its a forum and I was actually shocked by the pay he went through with a large family. I am glad that it worked out for him and he was actually able to save as much as he did during his first year.

Did you even look at F9 pay scale on their profile? Could have save you from looking stupid

I chose Frontier because I was a junior captain at a regional airline for several years and no one else offered me the job. As a captain I was able to save $20,000 to help make it through 1st year pay at Frontier (which I used almost all of in that year).

I was commuting to New York before, while now I commute to Orlando. I have family in Orlando so I save on crash pad expenses. Next year I'll make what I made as a captain and from then on I will be at a higher income than I was as a captain at the regional. Once I upgrade (probably 3-4 years from now assuming continued growth) I'll be making close to twice what I made at my previous airline (under our current contract). If we have a new contract by the time I upgrade it will be even more.

Was Frontier my dream job? No. That said, with the hindsight of 1 year at the company I would do it again. I wasn't going to be that 15 year captain at a regional waiting for one of the big 3 to call me.

I believe when we get a new contract this will be a much more competitive airline to get hired at. If the contract isn't that great, I'll start updating my resume. I definitely took a gamble. Hopefully it will pay off.

Anybody thinking about Frontier should listen to "CantStayAway". Very sound judgement. Maybe not your first choice but if F9 calls you and the Majors don't, are you going to sit at your Regional forever?
If you think that the pay is going to stay like it is you are very naive as well. People are ****ed off right now, but that will change when we force F9 management to pay us what we are worth.

I know what the pay scales are. Still shocked. I am actually impressed with him for doing with a family of that size, I could not do it personally. I don't think that I looked stupid, I certainly didn't feel stupid for my comment. That is the purpose of the forum is to communicate.

If you don't realize how that comment made you come off as a jerk you need to do some serious soul searching. Do you think we don't know our pay rates suck? What you did is the equivalent of walking up to a buddy you hadn't seen in awhile and saying, "Hey man, your wife has gained a ton of weight, not sure how you deal with that." Your friend already knows and now you are an A-hole. If you had posted something along the lines of, "guys those rates are rough, good luck in your fight for a fair contract" no one would have jumped down your throat. Maybe next time think before you disparage a pilot group in their own forum.

Oh and if you're really that concerned about our rates we're picketing next month. You are more than welcome to join us.

Frontier doesn't have their own forum. It's just a thread. I hope you get panties untangled soon!
