Hi Everyone,

I saw on the application that it states the FO might help load bags, clean the cabin, or assist with other duties if Frontier is low on other employees. Does this happen and how often?

You seriously have to be trolling. I have never been asked, nor would I comply if asked to do any of those things. Not to mention, I wouldn’t trust the company to pay my workers comp if I got injured doing anything other than my duties as a pilot and even that is questionable.

I’m not trolling at all. This is from the Frontier pilot application listed under responsibilities, “Assists with and ensures proper handling of aircraft, passenger, baggage, and cargo at terminal points where other company personnel are not available.” I was seriously wondering.

No, you are a pilot and fly the airplane from point A to B.

This is hilarious, and even still, shockingly accurate to the way it went for a friend of mine.

I submitted the online app one morning a couple weeks ago and had a phone call within two hours, completed a short game of phone tag with an interview scheduled before lunch. No inside rec.

How long ago was that?

Well the answer to your question remains no. Pilots have not received training in any other job function other than flying the airplane. One could argue it’s a safety issue and a liability to the company. To my knowledge it has never been asked of any pilot to perform duties other than flying the airplane. Occasionally you will see a pilot assisting with wheelchairs or strollers but that’s pretty common at all carriers and voluntary.

On a side note, I would love to see the chaos that would ensue if they did ask us to throw bags in between turns.

^^^^^^^^^^This sounds damn near identical to my story...then, I receive 5 (five) identical emails in a 12 hour period that the F9 app process has moved to Airline Apps.
Silver Bullet- dodged!

Pilotlyfe and Emersonbiguns. Why are you even considering us? Please do yourself and us a favor and don’t even think about coming here. The time and effort you are wasting, you will never get it back. You are not helping the current pilots on the list here, or yourselves, trust me. Frontierpilotfacts.com. And yes, way back when I got hired, 90+% of pilots would help the flight attendants straighten up the cabin at outstations. A few captains would even throw bags. That was back when we were Frontier Airlines, The Spirit of the West. Everyone from the CEO down took care of each other! Now we are Frontier, ultra low class, treating everybody like complete Sh$! No matter who you are, unless you are in uncle Barry’s, or the devil incarnate, Franke’s inner circle.

Don't forget .... a few summers ago all employees were asked (or forced) to help on the ramp. And yes there were some pilots that actually did it.
