Already on my way out with a class date at a ULCC and apps out at others. Another reason is because in almost 4 years on property as an FO, I’ve only logged about 600 hours. Yea, as an FO you can upgrade as soon as you get the time, but no one will tell new guys it will take 3-4 years to actually get 1000 SIC.

If I would guess a combination of COVID and reserve FOs not being used due to a 1-2 capt/FO ratio. It's probably the best QOL regional right now in base, zero training delays, get the type and put your apps out to LCCs and you'll spend 25+ days/month at home.

First out of training, I was on reserve 6-8 month,ps, held a line for 2 months, then Covid, furloughs, military leave, and had to go through requal training. It took the company 2 months just to get me back into training because they completely forgot about it, 3 months of requal training… finally got back to being a line holder with 80 hour lines, then all of those months I was repeatedly dropped for IOE and people trying to consolidate. I’ve had at least 250 hours dropped from my schedule in 6-7 months, and there is ZERO open time to be picked up.

I know guys who have been active with the company for about the same amount of time who are just now breaking 700 hours. Obviously as a DEC, you’re going to work like a borrowed mule. I know CA’s who have bid for 75 hour min guarantee lines, and the company awards them 85-90 hour lines, along with junior assignments and extensions their QOL suffers.

Clouds this be by FO pay is lower? Does GoJet have a structural productivity problem?

FO pay sucks, but that’s not why FO’s can’t get time. There are about 90 CA’s on property (maybe less now) and well over 150 FO’s. I was bidding top 30% in base and have never flown more than 45 hours a month even being awarded 80+ hours.

If someone lives in base, and wants to get paid to do nothing but go bounce the sim for currency it’s a great place to do that as an FO. They work the crap out of CA’s. I personally know a guy that was a Nov 2021 new hire who in one year only logged 119 hours. As far as upward mobility, this is not the place to be.

As for CA’s, unless you’re close to hitting the mandatory retirement age and need some money, it would be pretty easy to go to a Major unless you don’t have recent currency. If you ARE close to the retirement age, and need some cash, there are better options than GoJet. Even with our CA pay scale and bonus, Envoy will pay you more and the stability of the AA WO’s are exponentially greater than that of GoJet.

Bro, mil leave is the key. I started about the same time as you from the looks of it, took paid leave every time it was offered, and was on the street after October 2020 with 2/3 of the pilot group. I took paid leave for a couple of months after they brought me back too. I still got my time and upgraded.

FOs that I fly with now, sure they’re not getting 1000 hrs/year, but once they can hold a line are picking up open time and hustling. It’s not easy, but it is possible. A lot of the guys that came in during Covid will be up in the next few months.

The Mil Leave has nothing to do with the fact that the pilot group voted in a ZHG, 50 hour lines, and everything else during Covid. I know guys here that have been here nearly as long as I have, and only have 200-250 more hours than I do.

None of this negates the fact that the company and its upper management are awful. Nothing about the picture being painted lately says "this place is stable and we care about our pilots, come fly for us!" I know for sure my paychecks compared to every other regional FO don't give me that impression. All they are doing with bonus money and the still below average pay (even for CA's) is screwing people, and everyone is excited about it. They would rather have a bonus than contractual hourly pay, so when they pick up open time its actually worth their time. But hey, what do I know?

Also, what happened to the BIG news that was coming a few posts back? Oh yea, it didn't come. GoJet, always a day late and a dollar short when it comes to taking care of their employees!

I still think you’re being dramatic. I’ve been here about the same amount of time from the timeline you gave, and I got my time. Others have too, and some are gone to legacies. If the grass is greener, go. We’ve got enough FOs, and the last thing we need is your negativity. You have done nothing but trash the company and talk about how much better it is everywhere else, so go.
