Alpa advises AE furloughs don't fly for gojet
#21
I don't think his working for gojet is going to prolong his furlough, and I also do not think mainline will be taking that flying back as long as they can move it to a regional carrier for less money, which is the current epidemic everywhere...I have seen my flying a CMR moved to every conceivable regional...

What the Eagle MEC fails to mention is that, most likely, of all the carriers where anyone is longing for an upgrade--it's Eagle. Aside from UAL furloughees, Eagle furloughees--for that matter, long standing Eagle F/O's--would probably have a faster career progression at GoJet.
They also fail to mention that the TSA MEC should have captured the flying at GoJet prior to pounding their chests about pay for the -700.
On a closing note, didn't ALPA National make a recommendation for ALPA members to consider GoJet if they needed a job?

I have tremendous respect for the Eagle pilots as well as there fellow American APA members because of messages like this. They don't screw around and say it the way it is without the fear of getting sued. If only every MEC was like this, this industry would be a little different.

Out of curiosity, does ALPA recommend to all ALPA carriers (i.e. Majors) to not hire Gojet pilots. Maybe it wouldn't be seen as a stepping stone if there were little places to go afterword. From the past, the majors hired everyone no matter where they came from...so why wouldn't someone want to go someplace like Gojets if there was no negative to it?

737s only carry 66 people now? Last I checked, the CRJ-700 and the "Guppy" or the "Guppy killer" have very different seating capacities. The "Guppy Killer" is the 190/95 which are both 100+. The 175 only caries 76 seats (looks similar but has half the capacity of the 737) and the 170 only caries 66 seats (all of those numbers are including first class seats).
the 190/195 aren't guppy-killers, they're direct competition for the smaller 73s. the -500s carry ~112. the 190 can carry that, but it's all coach. the 195s are closer.

#2 it's called negotiation - it comes with risks
#3 if so I think it was for the furloughed TSA pilots not the flying community at large. I could be wrong about that but the object was to make them whole later.

#2--Yes, it comes with risks. The TSA MEC tried to bluff and lost to a pair of two's.
#3--I vaguely remember that the ATA guys were referred to GoJet for employment by ALPA National.
