GoJet Interview and Training

Pointless as it may be, I'm only pointing out what the "newbies" fail to see before they get themselves all mixed up in GoJet. FlyerJSH asked me to go into details, so I did. Listen, I don't really give two sh!ts as to whether you work for GoJet or not. I'm not here to give you my blessing, only state my opinions. If you agree with my opinions, good for you. If not, that's fine too. You want to tell me to shut my pie hole, go right ahead. I won't listen, but you already know that.
And you are correct, I almost made the jump to GoJet. As enticing as a quick upgrade was, my buddy pointed out that it wasn't worth the shame I would personally feel wearing the uniform. He was right and you're right, I think I will get him a bottle of single malt one of these days.
Don't get me wrong, Trans States sucks just as hard as GoJet. Except y'all have newer aircraft, better routes (IMO), and y'all are expanding. We are rolling around in old, performance-lacking aircraft, crappy routes (I hate the east coast), and we are shrinking, furloughing, downgrading, and it's nothing but doom and gloom here. That doesn't make me any less aware of the fact that Waterskiers got screwed by management in 2005.
All decisions must contain some degree of emotion. But my most recent decision about my career was cold and calculated. I couldn't be happier

best of luck in 2012.

carl,
your rhetoric is pointless. bashing gojet hasn't helped you up to this point and believe me, it's never going to. everybody at the company knows that the union is pointless. people on the street know that and come to the company anyway, despite your repeated attempts to advise them otherwise. unbelievably, most grown-ups can make their own decisions and don't wait for blessings from an internet board.
not too long ago, you were considering making the switch, until one of your buddies 'opened your eyes'. make sure you send that guy a bottle of single malt for steering you in the right direction. if he's got any portfolio advice, send it my way.
gojet may leave a lot to be desired, but trans states does as well. the performance is typically horrible, the pilots are miserable, captains have been downgraded, FO's hired in 2007/8 are still on reserve, and some are on their way to a second furlough at what was supposed to be an entry level 121 job. i'm gonna go out on a limb and say that gojet is probably a more pleasant place to work, despite the union's failure to effectively lead.
be a man and stop being so emotional with your decisions. you might be happier.

You sound like a level head individual. You have pointed out that Gojet and trans states have a lot to be desired. You commented on the Union failure etc...it sounds like you are singing the same song we are singing. So the big question for the day is.
What are you guys doing to make sure you change the negative, untrue and factually incorrect information about your company?
What is the game plan to make Gojet a better quality product then it is? Am not saying make it number 1, just superior.
Besides the three people that always post negative comment have you ever talked to a TSA pilot or even say hi to one at the airport about the future of both regionals and how we could work together for the future of the industry.
I agree Gojet may be a more pleasant place to work, but you it can change anytime. Ask a Comair pilot.
Anyways, I have to say I am proud some Gojet pilots are now open and at least try to defend the company in public. My babies are growing up

I have no idea how many they need but if the flying at DL goes well then they will continue to hire IMHO. I do not know this for a fact and it is only my opinion, but I really would tend to think that at GJ 750 hours is a pretty hard number. I do think GJ is a great place to be right now and I LOVE working here but at GJ they are black and white there is no middle ground. If you can follow the rules here you will succeed and be happy. If you showed up with 749 hours it would not surprise me if they told you to come back when you got that extra hour. But in their defense they have to draw the line somewhere. The only thing I can say is send in your resume and if you get a call well then they know how much time you have. Also even if you do not have the time send in a resume as it gets your name out there and shows interest.

I've been hearing a lot of rumors of GoJet getting more Delta flying from Skywest and/or Comair. Have you guys heard anything?

The latest information an additional 190 total above what the United contract requires. They are running classes every month until they get all of those needed. Other than that the people I know there haven't told me anything.
Then again, I have also hear that TSA may recall all 20 they just furloughed. So I may be completely wrong about everything.

So I have heard rumors out on the line that it takes G7 1 - 1 and 1/2 months to call you after the interview for a class date or for any correspondence? Is this correct?

All my friends got class dates within a week of interviewing.

nothing. there really is nothing that can be done. negotiations are to take place here shortly, but nobody is realistically hopeful. there are many ideas floating around on how to make gojet a better place to work, but a majority of the pilot group wants to avoid anything that has direct contact with labor relations. there is an unspoken fear of getting a 'target on your back', and many aren't willing to take the risk.
What is the game plan to make Gojet a better quality product then it is? Am not saying make it number 1, just superior.
this is beyond my pay grade. collectively, we put out a fairly respectable product (performance).
as far as making it a better place to work ---- as the company and the pilot group continue to grow, it'd be nice to hope for a better pay rate, better contract, and everything that comes along with a somewhat decent contract. as stated before, i'm not holding my breath for that, and it's doubtful that anybody is.
Besides the three people that always post negative comment have you ever talked to a TSA pilot or even say hi to one at the airport about the future of both regionals and how we could work together for the future of the industry.
no. it's taboo. i've spoken with tsa pilots and flight attendants quite a bit, but never about the two companies together. more 'shoot-the-****' type dialogue than anything else. when the conversation starts to refer to one another's company (in my experience), we act as if there's no connection whatsoever. much like i would with pilot from skywest, expressjet, mainline carriers, etc.
I agree Gojet may be a more pleasant place to work, but you it can change anytime. Ask a Comair pilot.
nobody's more aware of this than we are
