Gojet's economics don't appear to be sustainable. They are having to hire guys as FOs and pay them captain wages. They are screwing over FOs which tells all other FOs not to go there. They are paying triple time to fly on days off. Too many pilots have had bad experience with Gojet that the word is out and nobody will go there.

With United not going to renew there contract for 15 of the crj700s there is not enough mass to justify keeping Gojet going. They are now willing to pay this extra money because I believe it is all short term. The CRJs they got from Delta can go to Endeavor or Skywest who can fly them profitably. The other few planes can go back to the leasing company when the leases are up. Gojet can just be wound down. Gojet brought in the guys who did the shutdown of Comair and I think that is what will happen.

I suppose that they could fold Gojet into Compass or TSA but I believe they have given up on Gojet and are merely doing what they must to keep the planes flying until they can negotiate a shutdown schedule with Delta and the leasing companies. They have no long term plan.

The contract with the pilots continues to go nowhere because they don't need it to. They don't need guys long term anymore. What they are doing to the FOs shows they don't care about the future. There is not.

This stuff is not new. Braniff II acted similarly just before they shutdown as did Eastern. Those are my thoughts. I hope I am wrong. Nobody should worry though because the TSA pilots will insist that the Gojet pilots be given jobs there with their Gojet DOH seniority at TSA.

I agree. Hire Street Captains and don't offer upgrade classes to any current and future FO's that have the time. Nothing in the contract prevents this.

Glad I upgrade next month.

WOW! if this is true, it is some pretty pi$$ pore contract language even for G7.

What's a staple? Putting them at the bottom of the seniority list?

Yes. Most TSA pilots that were around for the creation of GoJet, where many junior pilots jumped seniority to upgrade and then wanted seniority list integration with TSA, would be happy with putting them at the bottom of the seniority lists. Not saying it would happen but the bitterness is still strong here.

The reason they are hiring street Captains is because there are NOT enough people on the upgrade qualifying list..

People continue to upgrade as they feel they are ready to upgrade & the company is running upgrade classes for as little as 2 to 4 people...

It is not possible to predict how much you will fly as a FO or CA, but you will get paid as a CA from day 1 for everything that you do.
That's the upside..

The down side is you will be on reserve for a very long time as FO's who are senior to you will continue to upgrade & you will be always on reserve..

The plus side of that equation is that you will make a LOT of money..

In today's environment, reserves are minting money, make a lot more than line holders.. The lack of cancellation pay doesn't affect them as Every time the company touches you, you get paid 4 hrs.. even if you are called to the airport & sent back home or you do a Deadhead for 30 mins in one day, it's 4 hrs of pay.. You finish after Midnight, it's next day, 4 hrs of pay...

Now with 300% pay, when you pick a 4 day trip worth 20 hrs, you make $3,900 at year 1 CA pay on the TOP of your guaranty or whatever else you have earned for the month.

If you live in or near any of the bases, you will be golden..

If you have any questions, feel free to ask, I will try to respond as fairly as I can.

That'd be against a federal statute.

McCaskill-bond would have to look at the size of both pilot groups, earning potential, career expectations, aircraft size, relative seniority, Etc, etc, etc. to think a staple could ever happen, especially with GoJet having a bigger pilot geoup, is idiotic to put it politely.
