Either way, everyone responsible For security in DC is suspect because this was expected, but supposedly people said there was no real risk because these were law abiding peaceful republican protesters.
Cool story. But the NG is not like dialing 911, they don't respond in 20 minutes they have to contact their people, get them mobilized and geared up before moving on the objective. Typically days (at least one or two), not minutes or hours. If the guard was already deployed to DC on standby, then it would be different (they were deployed there earlier this year).

I didn't really watch much of it, just saw pics online, so could be what you said.

You’re right, but they should have already been mobilized and on standby. Nobody was mobilized and when the Capitol Police Chief called and asked for help, he was told no.

What should they have been mobilized for? If the powers that be didn't really see this one coming, then they wouldn't have called out the guard a week in advance. But now they know, so maybe they'll lead the problem next time.

Are you ****ing with me or are you just that ignorant? Every major newspaper around the country had headlines that there was expected to be violence in DC on January 6. Parler was full of people saying they were showing up in DC with guns. Trumps attorney Lin Wood said that they should hang the Vice President. The “powers that be” knew there was a threat, but they refused to act because they were either told to stand down (sounds familiar) or they thought they were safe because a bunch of white, armed republicans didn’t pose a threat. Now people are resigning left and right because they know they ****ed up, the insurrection didn’t work, and they’re asses are on the hook for it.

Mods stopped caring a loooooooong a$$ time ago. I’ll be honest, Rick always seemed to be very level headed, but even he has surprised me (not in a good way) the last 2-3 months.

At the end of day NO ONE IN WASHINGTON DC GIVES A SINGLE F... ABOUT YOU. Im truly dumbfounded how unbelievable stupid we are as a society. I mean JFC people. Figure out this out already.

I’m assuming Ron has been asked to apply to the FAA?

Sigh. More like burned out with all of covid-induced frothing at the mouth. I'm still trying. We need to be able to discuss government and policy as it relates to our highly-regulated industry (if Ron drove a forklift instead of a jet nobody would be talking about this).

The art is to draw the line at red/blue partisan politics... don't cross the partisan line, but some people also need to stop assuming that everything anyone else says is a slam against the rabid fanatical political persuasion.
