Ah yes "Russian disinformation" at the same time you spam nato/us state department propaganda. It always is comical to me how Americans cry about illegal invasions when every war the us has been involved in since WW2 has been an illegal invasion. Russia has more of a right to invade Ukraine than the US had in Afghanistan and Iraq. Those in glass houses.
Does Russia also have a right to shell apartments or a theater that they knew was housing hundreds of civilians? Do they have a right to shoot civilians after tying their hands behind their backs?

You make me sick and I only wish I could tell it to your face. Yes I’m being serious.

This is why I highly doubt China invades Taiwan, the machines that make the chips, and the IP is made by the West. China needs to find a way to take it peacefully, which is unlikely.

So there's a silver lining, encouraging. May not be entirely visible if a shroom pops over Tehran. Doom never retires

Thought I would toss this out for any who may be interested.

If you google 'YouTube Timothy Snyder The Making of Modern Ukraine' the videos of this class he is teaching at Yale should come up. So far there are 5 available. They run from 46 minutes to one that is 51 something minutes.
I don't know how many lectures there will be in total. I have only watched the first two. They are undergraduate level. From comments to students in the class, I suspect it is tailored for Freshmen.

I have read a few of Snyders books and been impressed. I offer no opinion on his lecturing talents or the quality of the course.
That being said, Snyder is an expert on the History and politics of this part of the world and speaks multiple Slavic languages as well as (I think) Yiddish. That alone affords him insight that is elusive to most in the West.

I know that most are not interested enough to devote multiple hours to watch these lectures. Life makes other demands on our time. I thought I would toss it out there for any whom may be curious enough to learn a bit more than one gets from APC or the opinion 24 news channel of choice.
For what it's worth.

I just watched lecture 3. It addresses some of the misunderstandings about the historical relationship of Ukraine and Russia.
In my opinion if time is crunched and you have an interest, skip the first 2 lectures and watch this one.

This is why the US is building fabs on home turf. They're getting ready to cede Taiwan to China just like the Brits ceded Hong Kong.

Yes, there's a lot to unpack there. Things are not quite as simple as the general western public sentiments.

But even with the historical context I believe that TODAY, in the modern world, the Ukrainians are entitled to their own country, certainly the western part.

Or we're prudently hedging against the worst case. It's hard to have definitive confidence that Taiwan will remain independent indefinitely.

Yup. Called the East/South China Sea for a reason. Might be helpful to shore up the Americas prior any kung fu fighting.
