I'm sorry didn't realize internet connection was required. If so I too would like to know if there's another logbook for the iPhone where internet cx is NOT required...

Coradine Aviation Systems LogTen Mobile

looks like its out there now. The website says that no internet connection is required to run the app and it is available in the app store. Looks like it requires log ten pro though (the newest version) and from what I can gather a mac.

Still wont work for me I suppose since I do not want to buy a mac but it is progress. I am too lazy to spend what would be days on the computer transfering my logbook to electronic form. I would just like the mobile version to be a replacement for my little red book.

It is progress and I think more will follow.

I wished there was a trial version to see if I like it rather than spending $40 right of the bat.

With logten mobile you MUST have a MAC to be able to use the new 2.0 mobile software, especially if you are going to import your current logbook from logbook pro. So in addition to the logten mobile 2.0 app (that does not require internet) $39.99 and logten 4 for mac $99 you are set- just need the money and a mac.

Still looking for a way to have a logbook for iphone plus PC...

We just got our 3Gs two days ago. There is no way going back from here especially if you are someone who likes to be on the net a lot. Worth the $. We would have gotten v1 already but I was under a contract.

Logbook pro for iphone seems to have a better chance now with the SDK out. The below is a paste/copy from their official forum.

"Hello,

I do not anticipate iPhone support until mid-2008 at the earliest. Our development efforts are focused on Logbook Pro v2 at the moment and then everything else to follow.

I have seen other threads there as well about it. It seems at the moment priority #1 is Logbook Pro v2.0 which will be really great with the new features. Then they will look into iphone support. BUT they have not commited to it! I can't wait to not carry my old Axim with me for APDL. APDL needs a major update too... many features are missing i.e. international rest rules and redeye trips to mention a few.

Well, there’s good news and bad news regarding using the APDL (Logbook pro) on the iPhone. The official application that’ll eventually become available for the iPhone will require the internet and of course no one really knows when it’ll become avaialble.

However, there’s a new third party application that allows all Palm programs to run on the iPhone, including the Logbook Pro. You do NOT need internet connection when entering the flight times, etc. When you sync your computer or when you’re online you can sync your times to your PC or Mac. In other words it works just like like the current APDL on my Treo (Logbook Pro). Think of the program that lets you access Windows on a Mac – a similar hybrid program. The application is called Styletap and is pretty cheap.

http://www.styletap.com/product_apple.php

http://blogs.styletap.com/styletap/index.html (the quote below comes from this link)

HOWEVER, right now you can only download it to a jailbroken phone as Apple refuses to sell this application through the App Store (iTunes). Styletap explains it here:

“…the bad news is that until Apple removes the legal roadblocks, we will not be able to provide a product that can be installed through the App Store onto a standard "off the shelf" iPhone. You can help us by making sure that Apple knows that you would like to see StyleTap as an application on the iPhone, and especially by making sure they know that having the ability to run your critical applications is a major factor in your decision whether or not to purchase an iPhone. If you have not already done so, you can provide your feedback to Apple at Apple - iPhone - Feedback..."

So basically there’s a very simple way to use your current Log Book or whatever program you have on your Treo, Blackberry, etc on your iPhone however Apple refuses to allow this third application because it’d open up the iPhone to many, many programs that Apple wouldn’t make any money on.

Styletap encourages everyone to write Apple about allowing their program to be sold through the App Store.

I just did.

Heyas,

I've tried APDL, and I like it's flagging capability for FARs and duty times. No other product seems to be so "keyed into" the needs of 121 guys.

With that said, my opinion is that I don't like that you have to use Logbook Pro to export your data. I just want to download my stuff into Excel, and I don't want to pay for a whole other program to do that to me.

APDL used to have a small add-on that would let you export the data. Then they moved it to a web-only app, and THEN they got rid of it altogether, forcing you to use Logbook Pro.

I don't want to use Logbook Pro and I don't want to pay for it just to export APDL data, so it's a deal breaker for me. From the support forum, they seem to want funnel everything through LBP, and that just doesn't work for me. A couple of people on their support forum seemed torqued that they'd bought APDL, and are now forced to buy LBP to get to their data.

Max Thrust - this is promising - do you know if my iPhone can be in airplane mode to use this logbook or does it have to be connected the internet?
