N2264J,

Your level of ignorance is well beyond that of the average educated individual capable of critical thinking. Therefore, there is no use in even trying to educate you on reality. However, I do want you to know that the best thing I have done in life is burn 7K lbs of JP-8 in the span of 30 mins, many times over.

I also want you to know that no amount of ignorance will put a stop to the forward march of technology, which will in turn require a great amount of energy. So, believe what you want but no amount of lies will stop that fact. Also, know that your kind will be dealt with in due time, and the more you push our buttons, the sooner that time will arrive. The truth will always come out.

N2264J,

For the third or fourth time, can you please answer these questions? Considering you have all the "facts and science" on your side they should be easy to answer, but your silence is very telling. I won't get my hopes up.

“Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.”
• George Wald, Harvard Biologist

What proof do you have that had the government not stepped in and done anything that civilization would have come to an end around 1995-2000?

“Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make. The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.”
• Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist

What did the government do to stop the ever increasing population? And what did the government do to prevent 100-200 million deaths a year by 1989?

“The world has been chilling sharply for about twenty years. If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age.”
• Kenneth Watt, Ecologist

What did the government do to reverse global cooling and the coming ice age that was a near certainty? Did the governments actions over correct and are now responsible for global warming?

I don't know what is worse; blaming everything bad that has happened on Bush, republicans, capitalism, and the free market, or your only answer to anything is more government to fix all of our problems. It is very sad and very comical at the same time.

I guess the science isn't settled.

In case anyone needed a arctic ice update.

North Pole Sees Unprecedented July Cold ? Arctic Sees Shortest Summer On Record ? ?Normally the high Arctic has about 90 days above freezing. This year there was less than half that? | Climate Depot

Professor Ian Plimer could not have said it better!
If you've read his book you will agree, this is a good summary.

PLIMER: "Okay, here's the bombshell. The volcanic eruption in Iceland . Since its first spewing of volcanic ash has, in just FOUR DAYS, NEGATED EVERY SINGLE EFFORT you have made in the past five years to control CO2 emissions on our planet - all of you.

Of course, you know about this evil carbon dioxide that we are trying to suppress - it’s that vital chemical compound that every plant requires to live and grow and to synthesize into oxygen for us humans and all animal life. I know....it's very disheartening to realize that all of the carbon emission savings you have accomplished while suffering the inconvenience and expense of driving Prius hybrids, buying fabric grocery bags, sitting up till midnight to finish your kids "The Green Revolution" science project, throwing out all of your non-green cleaning supplies, using only two squares of toilet paper, putting a brick in your toilet tank reservoir, selling your SUV and speedboat, vacationing at home instead of abroad, nearly getting hit every day on your bicycle, replacing all of your 50 cent light bulbs with $10.00 light bulbs.....well, all of those things you have done have all gone down the tubes in just four days.

The volcanic ash emitted into the Earth's atmosphere in just four days - yes, FOUR DAYS - by that volcano in Iceland has totally erased every single effort you have made to reduce the evil beast, carbon. And there are around 200 active volcanoes on the planet spewing out this crud at any one time - EVERY DAY.

I don't really want to rain on your parade too much, but I should mention that when the volcano Mt Pinatubo erupted in the Philippines in 1991, it spewed out more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than the entire human race had emitted in all its years on earth.

Yes, folks, Mt Pinatubo was active for over One year - think about it.

The scientists at the US Geological Survey and the majority of other scientists disagree with Plimer's opinion on volcanic emissions vs human produced emissions' effect on climate. A simple search shows studies and debates in which Plimers ideas are debunked.

For perspective:

CO2 is about 0.04% of our atmosphere. It is classified as one of the trace gases. The mass of the atmosphere is in the peta ton (10^15) order of magnitude.

Human economic activity releases something like 30 giga tons (10^9) of CO2/year. The total CO2 released each year is just under 800 gigatons/year; this total includes human economic activity, animal respiration, organic decomposition, and other releases from soil, rocks, and the oceans. Thus, CO2 released by human economic activity is about 3% of total annual emissions from all sources.

Almost all (more than 98%) of the CO2 emitted into the atmosphere is reabsorbed each year. The CO2 left over is the source of the increasing atmospheric CO2 about which some people are concerned.

I do my part, I see a lot of guys let their beer sit around spewing little bubbles of co2 into the air. Not me, it is your duty to finish off that beer as quickly as possible.

Yes, it's ignorance at it's finest. Volcanoes that "cool" the earth do not cool it solely due to releasing CO2. I could go into detail, but I'm afraid I'd lose people, because it's quite simple.
