Try dragging A-10s across the Atlantic and then speeding up when you pass them off. If you don't get clearance to speed up, you will hear about it.

You obviously need to spend some quality time with F/As discussing what they are responsible for in back. One of the things they do while boarding is mentally choosing people who they think would be Able Bodied Passengers (ABPs) in case they need assistance.
By IDing yourself to them they know they have at least one TRAINED ABP they can rely on. Do I really need to hook up with an F/A I'll never see again? Nope. I'll leave that for you Tinder browsing millennials out there.

gee thanks.The post I responded to indicated the choice to speed up on the NATS was made "because nobody is stopping them" - not as result of an amended clearance or request to change speed.
