Yeah... I know it's tough to be a newbie.
So you're defending her behavior?

I cringe when captains allow the flight attendants to set the tone. I will support them and enjoy working with most but when push comes to shove the buck stops in the flight deck not the galley. If you want flight attendants to like and respect you then if they have a problem get all the information and make a decision the same as if you were in their shoes. Take an interest in who they are as people and keep them safe.

I disagree that it will be a flight attendant or pilot that ruins KCM. It will be an idiot. And the example stated was an idiot.

Not a flight deck issue labbats. It was w KCM line issue that pushed Skippy's button to the point indicating it was solely an issue with F/As. Not defending or condoning the behavior of the F/A. Frankly it was none of Skippy's business as he works for an airline and not for TSA which dealt with the issue in a manner they felt appropriate at the time.

The crewmwmber has every right to submit a letter of complaint to the TSA with copies to the Airline. Likewise the TSA agent has the right to submit a letter of complaint to his/her supervisor against the F/A as well.

At the end of The day, I will wager the issue took no more than 3 minutes the resolve. Unfortunately F/As and cockpit crews are not exempt from inappropriate conduct... but again their are remedies to the bone heads.

Sounds like the cousin of the mainline pilot who looks at the regional guy on the jumpseat and says "So you got your stuff in with mainline? When you gonna come over?" As if it's as simple as the regional guy just walking into the chief pilot's office and saying "I'm a pilot! I'm here to fly, just point me to the gate!". After some very long 6-leg days in and out of some of the most effed up airspace in the country, it would take every fiber of my being not to come back with a doe-eyed and sarcastic "Gee mister, do you think I should!? I'm a real good pilot, honest!"

You are correct. And... only a matter of time before some entirely legally cockpit carrying "sympathizer" brings some goodies through KCM for his friends.

FFDO fantasy heroism is fantasy.

Exactly. The entire program was gestated in the fevered post 9-11 minds of a bunch of airline gun nuts who thought it would be the highway to John Wayne heaven.

Because of the number of gun related incidents associated with FFDOs. Shooting a hole in an Airbus is just the tip of the iceberg, partner.

That discharge was caused by poor government mandated policies and procedures, and a poorly designed government issued holster. Numerous individuals pointed out the weakness in the system, the Swiss cheese holes, that would eventually lead to exactly what happened. As soon as it did, changes were implemented, changes that should have been procedure from the get go, and there hasn't been an issue since then.

Don't blame the pilot, blame the governmental idiot who came up with a dumb way of doing something that everyone knew would be an issue.
