I would wager not an AF guy...

That museum is freaking awesome though. Too much history for just one day, need a couple days to do it right, and two days probably isn't enough either.

Helluva deal getting into a free chilly museum on hot OH summer days. For all the AF has bumbled up, they sure did great on that museum.

Thianks for showing us how to be a tool. Ignorance and arrogance are not a pretty combination. This is not a political forum.

Easy pal! My comment was clearly (I thought?) tongue in cheek. There IS a "Cool of the Day" thread which is clearly more appropriate for your story.

Seems like a lot of folks are wound WAY too tight in here and taking all the fun out of this thread.

I saw something similar at the Udvar-Hazy Museum at IAD when I was killing time during an extended airport sit. No less than FOUR pilots in full uniforms strolling around the exhibits. Granted, it is very close to the airport and easily accessible by public transit. And full disclosure: they had done probably the same "ditch the bags in the crew room quick and catch the bus" routine i had done. But for the love of Pete, at least have the decency to loose the epaulets, brass and ID!

Many airlines have policy against partial uniforms. I've been unable to ditch the suit in the crewroom at several hubs because you can't get from the crew room to the terminal (or back) in civvies without a SIDA badge. My solution to that is carry a civilian jacket to cover up the bling once outside security.

I'd probably cut them a break if they're that close to the airport and probably on duty.

If they're on an overnight, yeah that's toolish.

I would argue that a white short sleeve shirt and black dress pants in the absence of any obvious airline paraphernalia is just that: a white shirt and black dress pants. Dorky looking? Probably. But not policy violating. Just tuck the brass, tie and epaulettes into a pocket and stop in the bathroom back at the airport if you need em for security purposes.

I get your point but I think they still get a sideways look and only half a break.

Well, why not? A couple of our Louisiana ANG pilots attended the British Open in their flight suits. Jolly good show!
