I never minded the "are you a pilot" inquiries. That's an easy smile, "yes," and carry on.

When I taught in the sims, the lanyard said "Delta Pilot Training." The amount of times I got "oh good luck, I hope that works out for you!" was pretty funny. Once or twice I was like "oh, I actually give the training," but for the most part it was just a "thanks, me too."
I once woke up while getting yelled at while commuting on the train for "sleeping on the job" after a red eye. I was like "*** just happened?"

They sure do.

I think all class rings are toolish, just my opinion. I just dont understand why a 4 year degree is something you always need a constant reminder of, always there to look at on your finger.

An uncle (crazy bright guy) graduated from MIT and wore a gold MIT ring. And friends wore military academy rings. For my uncle and my academy friends it seemed like the rings were rapid ways to identify (and maybe authenticate) guys who had a common experience and connection. I never got the sense that they were using the rings as a way to boast about themselves or flaunt their alma mater. Kind of like the rep ties that the British wear so they know who went to which public school without having to say "I went to Oxford." I'd guess that the same is true for the ERAU guys who wear school rings.

I was chatting once with one of our colleagues who is of the African-American persuasion.

He couldn't count the number of times he would be waiting on the curb in front of the terminal for a hotel van, and a passenger would drop his bags at his feet saying, "I'm going to Orlando (or wherever)..."

Haven't checked snopes, but there was a legend at our airline.
Black Captain with crew waiting for PU, guy drops bags, tips him well. CA bought every round at hotel.

Probably same story at PA/DL/AA/US/BN/EA/.......on and on.

As for uniform, too lazy to remove crap outside hat and uniform coat for quick stops or eats.(Tie and ID are optional). Some here seem to have some mental condition about the slightest display outside the airport such as quick stops.

I am in agreement about guys wearing the full uniform at longer functions for no other reason than personal vanity.

I am whiter than Donald Trumps ass and have had this exact thing happen to me on four separate occasions. Oddly enough, three of the four were down in Florida. (MCO and TPA)
