I always check the standby list pre departure to protect the JS's and other standbys from getting screwed. I flew a 5 hour redeye transcon, at the gate, I saw that a UAL Pilot and a UAL FA were assigned center coach seats. The UAL pilot came up and introduced himself, politely asked for a ride and we had a friendly conversation for a couple of minutes. I knew the pax load and told him to wait until final boarding. Once that was done, I gave him one of the 2 open First Class seats. The UAL FA? She boarded and didn't have time to asked for a ride or hear me say that I appreciate having extra trained crewmembers onboard. She also didn't get to hear me offer her the other First Class seat. I had the #1 FA inform her on descent that next time, her odds of sitting in FC all night might improve with a little professional courtesy. |
