"But I've got CASS, so I'm good".

I told him if he could talk the gate into giving him a seat in the back, he was welcome to it but not up front if he's not on the list.

"But it was sold out, my company couldn't buy me a seat so they told me to JS to my next position."

Did you brag to all your ERAU friends afterwards?

Dang really? I always ask. If im positive space, ile just go sit. Nonrev or JS ile check in, unless its clear that doing so would be a bad call. Gotta read the situation. But most of the time stopping by and saying hi is taken well.

As for guys that say "im riding up here with you" I believe they need a clue. Not very polite. And yes what has happened to manners these days?

Sounds like he need a lesson on how not to let the company bend him over.

He's a freightdog... bent over is his normal position. :D

Tool Edward was feeling enabled by the wave of public sentiment in Dr. Dao's favor, probably hoping to be the next social media phenom by calling out the pilot on video (sticking a phone in somebody's personal space might constitute assault though).

Word to the wise, this sort of situation can *usually* be diffused by the crew member before it gets to this point. Didn't see what led up to it, so no way to know in this case.

But do us all a favor, press for charges in this sort of situation (even if your employer prefers otherwise). Gotta draw the line somewhere.

Where were the TSA? Or the dozens of overweight cops that hang around airports?

This is why you change your shirt when commuting.

Agreed. Looks like it'll be open season since airline management has shown it will cave and doesn't want to be the bad guy.

Even a stoopit FA like me knows you check in with the pilots or follow what the lead FA tells you to do after you introduce to him or her.

Thanks for the professional courtesy.
I always check the standby list pre departure to protect the JS's and other standbys from getting screwed. I flew a 5 hour redeye transcon, at the gate, I saw that a UAL Pilot and a UAL FA were assigned center coach seats.

The UAL pilot came up and introduced himself, politely asked for a ride and we had a friendly conversation for a couple of minutes. I knew the pax load and told him to wait until final boarding. Once that was done, I gave him one of the 2 open First Class seats.

The UAL FA? She boarded and didn't have time to asked for a ride or hear me say that I appreciate having extra trained crewmembers onboard. She also didn't get to hear me offer her the other First Class seat. I had the #1 FA inform her on descent that next time, her odds of sitting in FC all night might improve with a little professional courtesy.
